We are searching for a curious and driven Head of Growth to manage Halter’s international growth. This is a hands-on, high impact role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can transition seamlessly from strategy into execution, and will never shy away from a challenge.
This is a rare opportunity to own strategic initiatives end-to-end—from leading market discovery, through to pilot and proof of concepts and setting up new teams for commercial scale. You’ll find yourself moving between desk research, travelling to meet farmers and ranchers on the ground, and driving alignment and understanding across Halter. You’ll work closely with teams across the business, providing clarity and ensuring prioritisation. You’ll be masterful at quickly understanding new markets and opportunities, building trusting relationships, and creating excitement across the Halter team.
Aside from driving commercial growth, you will be making a real-world impact, making farming more productive and sustainable. You will build relationships across influential farming and industry leaders while working closely with senior leaders within Halter.

Who are we looking for

  • 6+ years in strategy, corporate development, or management consulting, ideally with some experience in operational or commercial execution.
  • Proven ability to take ideas from concept to implementation, especially in new or undefined market spaces.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to work with incomplete information and still create clarity and path forward.
  • Excellent communicator—clear, persuasive, and comfortable engaging at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly self-motivated and comfortable working independently without direct reports or a large team. A natural curiosity and willingness to explore, test, and iterate.
  • Nice to Have
  • Experience in a startup, high-growth company, or new venture environment.
  • Exposure to international markets or cross-cultural market entry.
  • Background in agriculture or SaaS.

What your day could look like

  • Lead Halter's international growth. You’ll identify, scope and conduct deep market research into new international markets. You’ll interview producers, research market trends, analyse financial and non-financial data, and generate insights and actionable recommendations for the business.
  • Lead the discovery and evolution from market identification, to market validation, to pilot and proof of concepts, right through to establishing new companies and recruiting resources to scale those markets.
  • You’ll spend time in new markets, setting up and leading the initial team and helping to ensure consistency as we transition from initial entry to having an established team. You can expect to be travelling at least once a quarter, and at times being based in new markets.
  • In time, you will also scout other significant growth opportunities. You will act as a bridge to the rest of Halter as we pursue these growth opportunities. You’ll mobilise and lead cross-functional teams of leads and experts to unlock new markets and to pursue opportunities. Collaborate with key functions such as product teams, sales and marketing.
  • You'll be involved with Halter’s highest priority strategic projects and growth opportunities. You’ll pitch in to solve big, ambiguous challenges facing our team. Build relationships and collaborate with senior industry leaders and key parties externally in New Zealand and in overseas markets.
