Hadrian builds software-defined high precision factories for the top aerospace companies in the world. After a successful customer beta we are substantially scaling our operations to our second factory (based in Torrance, Los Angeles) and are in the final stretch of building our core software team from whom the future of Hadrian will be built upon. This team will build custom in house software solutions to help improve, automate and scale the future of manufacturing in the U.S.
We've raised >$100m to achieve this vision, with multiple rounds from Lux Capital, A16Z, Founders Fund, Construct Capital, Caffeinated Capital and more."
Role Overview
Hadrian's FactoryOS ("Flow") is a powerful homegrown web application that runs Hadrian’s factories.
It automates everything from day-to-day factory operations, to generating customer paperwork, to supply chain operations, quality inspections & more.
This role — Lead Product Designer — will own Flow’s entire UI.

This means designing high quality UIs for a wide range of scenarios. For instance:

  • Allowing a customer to log in and check the status of their order, then place additional orders
  • Showing a machinist each of the steps needed to turn a raw block of metal into a satellite housing
  • Allowing Hadrian employees place an order for new factory equipment and then send paperwork to the supplier
  • Showing a quality inspector how to inspect aerospace hardware then record their results

What you will do:

  • Interact directly with your users (Hadrian’s machine operators, quality inspectors, or Hadrian customers)
  • Work on well scoped UI/UX problems, ranging from simple to extremely complex
  • Deeply understand how to manufacture and deliver high precision components
  • Mentor future designers
  • Deliver value quickly: our projects last weeks, not months
  • Build Hadrian’s design system
  • Work with engineers from Stripe, Google, SpaceX and Oculus

What you will need:

  • Have 4-10 years experience working as a designer at an engineering-led, product-focused company
  • Work quickly; you’re comfortable sharing rough designs and iterating fast
  • Are adept in explaining your work and process, and taking on feedback
  • Need to deeply understanding the product you’re building (details matter!)
  • Have experience building design systems
  • Get a kick out of Manufacturing, Space, Defense and our mission

What will put you over the top:

  • Experience designing video games, ERPs, or products with flexible, powerful interfaces
  • Experience/interest in Product Management
  • Management experience
  • Internal tooling or B2B workflow experience
  • Aerospace / Healthcare / FinTech / experience
  • Designed interfaces for complex real world environments (eg: logistics, factories, gig economy)

Pay Range Disclosure:

  • The base salary pay range for this position is $150,000 to $300,000, depending on experience.
  • Hadrian also offers, equity grants, platinum medical, dental and vision benefits.
