At GrabFin, we empower the people of Southeast Asia, from consumers and drivers to every-day entrepreneurs, by ensuring financial inclusion for the underserved. The Insurance Operations PST is a newly established team in Malaysia supporting regional Grab Insurance products.
Get to Know the Role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager II to lead and build our Malaysia engineering team. You will establish the Insurance Operations PST, driving technical delivery for Insurance products, and taking over operational support functions. You will collaborate closely with the local Operations team and coordinate with regional engineering teams.
You'll be reporting to our Senior Engineering Manager and working onsite at our Petaling Jaya office.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- You will lead the establishment and growth of a 7-10 person engineering team in Malaysia
- You will own Insurance technical delivery, ensuring compliance with BNM regulatory requirements
- You will oversee third-party system integrations (ISM, APAD, JPJ) and BNM regulatory reporting
- You will coordinate service transitions from ID/SG teams to the MY team
- You will build local engineering culture with emphasis on operational excellence
- You will collaborate with Insurance Operations team to deliver feature improvements
- You will develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources
- You will implement best practices in software development, testing, and deployment
- You will participate in strategic planning and cross-regional decision-making
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with strong coding skills in Java/Go and React
- 3+ years managing teams of 5 or more engineers, with demonstrated success in coaching and developing individuals
- Experience in building and scaling engineering teams from the ground up
- Deep understanding of scalable architectures, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS)
- Experience with regulatory/compliance-driven projects would be an added advantage
- Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate across cultures and regions
- Experience working with global teams on cross-regional projects
