Job Description

Get to Know the Team

First, let us introduce you to Grab Creative Studio:

  • We're responsible for building the Grab brand and maintaining its integrity across the region.
  • Our mission is to build brand love in everything we do and create memorable experiences for our users through purposeful creative work.

Get to Know the Role

We're looking for a Malay Copy Creative Lead — someone who thinks strategically, writes persuasively, and makes the language sing for the largest population in Malaysia.

Someone who:

  • Use magical thinking and masterful craftsmanship to solve real business problems — and maybe win some awards along the way.
  • Champion what's right for the brand, not what's trendy.
  • Believe "good enough" is never enough.
  • Can already think of 20 stronger ways to write this ad.

You will report to the Creative Director and work onsite at Petaling Jaya office

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

As the Malay Copy Creative Lead, you'll enhance the standard of all Malay-language copy coming out of Grab Malaysia. You'll work with multiple teams to ensure our voice connects, converts, and builds long-term brand equity.

You will:

  • Set the bar for Malay-language copy across campaigns, channels, and platforms — from digital ads to in-app comms to branding campaigns.
  • Work with a team of art directors and copywriters, reporting directly to the MY Creative Director.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to turn goals into standout creative ideas.
  • Ensure every line of copy–be it a promo or a public service announcement–upholds Grab's brand voice, while making space for local nuance and culture.
  • Oversee projects from 360 campaigns to quick-turnaround projects — while maintaining a strong creative vision throughout.
  • Partner with Creative Producers to manage timelines, priorities, and team morale.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • 8–10 years of creative agency or in-house experience, with a focus on brand, digital, and integrated campaigns.
  • A portfolio that showcases your best original Malay copywriting work — not just translations. (If your work is adapted from English, tell us how you made it resonate locally.)
  • A strong grasp of storytelling, strategy, and tone. You're as comfortable with a one-liner as you are with a campaign manifesto.
  • You are a compelling communicator; you are able to present, sell, and defend your ideas with clarity and objectivity.
  • Someone who gets creative operations. You know how to manage deadlines, assets, and people without losing your spark.
  • Comfortable using Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Drive).
  • Bonus: You're curious about how AI tools can help (not replace) creativity.
