Get to know the team
The PeopleTech team owns and manages our custom internal performance management and culture tools. We work collaboratively across different functions between Singapore and Malaysia to ensure our service meets the highest standards to drive impact to shape how Grab grows as a company. You'll be part of a working group that values quality and strives for continuous improvement through collaboration and new ideas. Our communication is in English, both in spoken and written form.
Get to know the role
As a Software Engineer, you will build and own our internal web platform for performance management and culture tooling end to end. You will also do code reviews, service monitoring and using engineering best practices to maintain the quality of the service. You'll collaborate with engineering, product, design and business teams, to help achieve the team's goals.
You will be working onsite at our Malaysia office in KL.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- You will design, develop and maintain the main components of internal tools supported by the team including front-end development, database design and management, building APIs in Go, and CI/CD management, among others.
- You will implement best practices for web development, ensuring high-quality code and adhering to performance and security standards.
- You will proactively identify and troubleshoot issues, implement fixes, and ensure application stability and performance.
- You will take full ownership of projects and collaborate with the team from design to implementation and deployment.
- You will participate in code and design reviews.
- You will report to the Engineering Manager of the team.
Qualifications
The Must-Haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 1+ years of professional software development experience.
- You will have solid software engineering and coding skills. Specifically, we're looking for someone with experience in Go for the back-end language and React Typescript for the front-end.
- You will build front-end applications and be comfortable working with HTML, CSS, and Typescript/Javascript.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL).
- Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control (Git), unit testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Computer Science fundamentals in algorithms and data structures.
- You will lead small to medium sized projects independently with strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Stay informed about relevant technology trends and developments.
The Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Ruby on Rails.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and experience developing and deploying services on the cloud.
- Curiosity towards Generative AI and LLMs.
