At GrabFin, we empower the people of Southeast Asia, from consumers and drivers to every-day entrepreneurs, by ensuring financial inclusion for the underserved. The team is building solutions by allowing our partners (i.e. drivers and merchants) to get access to financial services (lending and insurance) products for their everyday needs.
Get to Know the Role
We are looking for Backend Engineer specializing in Java to join our engineering team in Jakarta, Indonesia. As a Backend Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing robust and scalable server-side applications that power our cutting-edge products. You will be reporting to an Engineering Manager. This role is onsite based on Jakarta.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- Develop, and maintain scalable, and secure backend systems using Java and related technologies
- Collaborate with other teams to define, design, and ship new features
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code
- Implement RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- Optimize application performance and troubleshoot complex issues
- Participate in code reviews and help improve our development practices
- Work with databases (SQL and NoSQL) to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval
- Integrate third-party services and APIs
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment
- Stay up-to-date with new trends and technologies in backend development
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in backend development using Java
- Strong proficiency in Java programming and the Spring Framework
- Experience with RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- Solid understanding of database management systems (SQL and NoSQL)
- Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and agile development methodologies
- Java certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE Programmer) will be beneficial.
- Knowledge of scalable and distributed systems is beneficial
