Grab's Public Affairs team builds partnerships with the public sector to support national policy agendas, engages constructively with governments and other stakeholders on public policy discussions, and drives initiatives to harness the potential of technology to create impactful change across Southeast Asia.
Get to Know the Role
As a member of Grab's Public Affairs team, you will work with our vertical and product strategy teams on commercial initiatives within the regulatory landscape of our markets and strengthen Grab's thought leadership and building lasting relationships with external partners. You will report to the Head, Regional Public Affairs (Policy) and provide strategic and implementation guidance, co-ideating on business or product adjustments based on regulatory developments, and driving efforts on public policy topics.
This role is based onsite in our Jakarta office.
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
- You will partner strategy teams on commercial initiatives, ensuring strategic alignment between Grab's business and regulatory goals.
- You will co-create with strategy and product teams to adapt business initiatives to the context of current and anticipated regulatory developments.
- You will develop and implement advocacy strategy, collaborating with country public affairs and regional business teams to meet public policy goals.
- You will work with country public affairs teams to analyze public policy issues, develop positions, and provide advocacy recommendations.
- You will orchestrate efforts across multiple Grab teams to address public policy topics cohesively in business operations.
- You will execute campaigns that drive thought leadership and dialogues on key topics, e.g. through planning of dialogues, forums, roundtable discussions, policy programmes etc.
- You will support building lasting relationships with governments, policy-makers, academics, NGOs, tech industry representatives, and other thought leaders in Southeast Asia and globally.
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- Familiarity with technology policy issues, including the ability to identify social and business implications to develop strategic positions and recommendations.
- Experience (6-8 years) in public or government affairs, public policy, consulting, strategy, or project management roles.
- Experience orchestrating multi function efforts and managing plans.
- Fluency in English proficiency for effective communication and advocacy.
- Skills in building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of external stakeholders, including governments, NGOs, and industry leaders.
- Ability to maintain performance and focus under pressure and adapt swiftly to changing circumstances.
