Get to Know the Team

Join the team that serves the very core of Grab — the Sentry team. Our systems handle billions of network messages daily for Grab's users, while our service orchestration and discovery platforms ensure the reliability of hundreds of Grab services. Collaborating with infrastructure, security, and product teams, we are looking for experienced engineers to strengthen our platform team.

Get to Know the Role

As part of our team, you will build high-performing solutions that Just Work. Your work will provide the stability and efficiency necessary for millions of daily users. This role is based in Vietnam and work onsite at Maple Tree, HCM city. You will report directly to Engineering Manager, who is based in Singapore.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • Build and manage Grab's gateway systems, linking millions of consumer devices with hundreds of backend services through Grab's service mesh.
  • Operate in a multi-cloud environment, designing scalable, zero-downtime network traffic routing and analytics solutions for Grab's "public edge."
  • Improve and shape new design architectures with a focus on scalability and performance.
  • Collaborate with our infrastructure team to build back-end services. Your joint efforts will be evaluated based on the scalability of the back-end services built and their support for our diverse range of products.
  • Be responsible for designing, building, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale systems.
  • Debug and make necessary modifications to our production software which caters to millions of users across Southeast Asia.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a backend language Go, Scala, Java or C++.
  • You understand building microservices architecture and have a good grasp of distributed systems, RESTful APIs, and message queuing systems to develop our back-end services.
  • Experience with relational databases, such as MySQL, is important.
  • You have knowledge of software development best practices including version control (specifically Git), unit testing, and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Experience with TCP/IP, HTTP, and the internet.
  • Experience deploying code in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments
