Get to Know the Team

Come join the team that serves Grab — Grab's Sentry team. Our systems process billions of network messages for Grab's consumers daily. Our service orchestration and discovery platforms ensure the reliability of hundreds of Grab services. We work closely with the infrastructure, security, and product teams and are seeking talented engineers to join our platform team!

Get to Know the Role

As a specialist in building, operating, and maintaining advanced solutions, you'll ensure that our software runs seamlessly. Built on world-class technology stacks, the software you create enhances our unique on-demand services across Southeast Asia, impacting millions of people daily. Your solutions will provide stability and efficiency, which means high design and quality standards but also incredible rewards.

The Critical Tasks You will Perform

• You will build and manage Grab's gateway systems, linking millions of consumer devices with hundreds of backend services through Grab's service mesh.
• You will be based at Grab's Vietnam headquarters, closely working with software engineering and product teams to create reliable and secure solutions.
• You will operate in a multi-cloud environment and build scalable, zero-downtime network traffic routing and analytics solutions for Grab's "public edge," catering to billions of daily requests.
• You will independently drive projects across teams from inception to deployment.
• You will identify and troubleshoot issues within Grab's entire infrastructure and code base.
• You will develop, maintain, and operate control and data-plane components and resolve production incidents.
• You will implement quality solutions using Go and Lua, uphold high standards for code reviews and deployments, mentor peers, and promote best practices for development and operations.

Qualifications

What Skills You will Need

• Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 4 years of professional software development experience.
• Problem-Solving: You are adept at solving issues and naturally take ownership of your team’s systems. You understand mission-critical systems.
• Technical Knowledge:
  • Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, and the internet.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following languages: C, C#, C++, Go.
  • Knowledge of building highly-available distributed systems.
  • Fluency in Bash, Python, and JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with common patterns and algorithms for navigating 3rd-party code bases efficiently.
• Communication: Strong English communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Expertise in HTTP/2, QUIC, and gRPC.
• Experience with massive concurrency and designing resilient algorithms.
• Skills in building monitoring and alerting systems.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and large-scale Docker/Kubernetes deployments.
• Experience with Consul and/or Envoy, including an understanding of their code base and community.
• Startup experience is a plus.
