Get to know the role
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join the team. We believe a successful candidate has solid understanding of machine learning, operation research and causal inference, tracking record of cleaning/processing data and building deep machine learning and/or optimisation models, experience working on deploying ML or Optimisation models in production systems, excellent soft skills to communicate with stakeholders.
In return, you will have the opportunity to work on big data to extract insights and establish solutions. You will develop deep learning, causal machine learning, reinforcement learning, optimization and/or control models to solve dynamic pricing problems inside Grab’s marketplace and deploy them at scale.
The Day-to-Day Activities
Build self-optimizing passenger pricing and driver earning products that can automatically adjust booking/order fares in response to the dynamic and ever-changing market conditions to achieve predetermined objectives.
Develop precise, causally correct, and robust machine learning models to accurately predict consumer booking behavior, both short term and long term. Build economic models to capture the impact of consuming pricing on network efficiency and long run business sustainability.
Construct scalable optimization models to search for the optimal fare for each booking. This involves finding the price point that attracts sufficient consumer demand and maximizes the revenue.
Establish pipelines to automate the model parameter tuning and model serving in a scalable way.
Create technical documents outlining the methodologies and findings, and present solutions to business stakeholders in a clear, non-technical manner.
Take charge of project management, collaborate closely with the technical teams to deploy the machine learning models in a production environment, ensuring their smooth integration into the system.
Communicate and collaborate with country teams to implement and roll out the pricing strategies effectively. This involves coordinating efforts, addressing any concerns or challenges, and ensuring consistent execution across different markets.
Master or PhD Degree in computer science, operation research, mathematics, statistics, economy, physics, software engineering or related fields
2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: generic machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning (control), causal inference, optimisation.
Experience translating complex business problems into ML/AI formulations.
Develop and improve data processing ETL pipelines to efficiently support data analysis, model training and model serving works
Proficiency in Python, Tensorflow, sql, spark. Experience in writing efficient sql query and readable, maintainable and testable codes.
Experience developing production quality Pipelines to automate the model tuning and deployment.
Excellent communication skills to manage the stakeholders.
Candidates with expertise in streaming data using frameworks like Apache Flink and Apache Spark will have an added advantage.
Experience with distributed systems and cloud services such as AWS, GCP, and Azure is highly valued.
Candidates who have made contributions to open source projects will be awarded bonus points during the evaluation process.
