Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Support Engineer provides the primary interface for troubleshooting Globalstar Test and Manufacturing Equipment between Globalstar and Contract Manufacturers (CM).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develop and operate PCBA test equipment and test fixture software for electronic products.
- Operate PCBA labeling equipment and workflow.
- Provide technical support between Globalstar and the CM by responding to tickets and communicating with CM Engineers and Technicians directly through WeChat.
- Support root cause analysis and problem resolution for any product related issues at the contract manufacturing site or sub supplier. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- SMT, testing, assembling, packing
- Production equipment (jigs, test chambers, etc.)
- Confer with manufacturing and design engineering personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions.
- Analyze and interpret test data and prepare technical reports for use by engineering, manufacturing, and management personnel.
- Control/facilitate factory documents, such as BOM, ECO, PVR, SOP and drawings.
- Generate Production Variance Requests (PVRs) for any temporary product design change that is needed to keep the factory operating until an ECO can be generated.
Skills and Competencies:
- Experience with National Instruments LabVIEW, TestStand
- Experience with Electronic Hardware Design using Altium or similar designer
- Experience with Python, Java, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript Desired
- Experience automating and troubleshooting rack instruments (spectrum analyzers, DMMs, power supplies, GPS simulators, PXI/PXIe Chassis)
- Solid broad-based knowledge of analog, digital and RF circuits.
- Ability to read electronic schematics and layouts.
- Experience with commissioning test equipment and troubleshooting root causes for tester vs product issues
- Experience with relational database schema definition and query design/optimization
- Familiarity with common communication protocols (Ethernet, RS232, GPIB, etc.)
- Understanding of RESTful service design
- Familiarity with GitFlow, continuous integration/delivery, etc.
- Must maintain a high level of energy and positive attitude through challenging situations and project demands.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
- Basic understanding of SMT process
- Basic understanding of plastic injection molding
- Experience in manufacturing environment
- Fluency Desired in Mandarin, Vietnamese, and English
Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:
- BS, in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred
- Three years of experience in an engineering position OR 1 years experience and a Masters Degree relevant to Electronics Design and Manufacturing.
- Must have applied experience with LabVIEW, National Instruments TestStand, SQL and other test equipment Software in an automated factory environment
- Proficient with RF Instruments such as Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers and Power Meters
- Experience with SolidWorks and ability to read mechanical design drawings
- Experience developing front end web portals with HTML, CSS or JavaScript desired
- Experience with Linux operating systems desired
- Experience with Raspberry Pi, Beaglebone or other single board computer platforms desired
- Experience with fundamentals of radio applied through work or HAM radio operations
- Experience with overseas Contract Manufacturer operations/management and willing to travel overseas for Contract Manufacturer site visits and equipment commissioning
Physical Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to travel to contract manufacturing sites as needed
- Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
- Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
- Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
- Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
