About The Role

As a Robotics R&D Technician, you will be assigned to a team that demonstrates the capabilities of our space robots to potential customers through agile development and technology demonstrations based on rapid prototyping in a terrestrial environment. You will assist in the rapid implementation of ideas, working on mechanical design, functional evaluation, and the creation of various mockups.

Responsibilities

  • Design robotics hardware to achieve high performance robot
  • Install, service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair robots and automated production systems
  • Incorporate both electrical and software requirements and development to achieve optimal robot assembly configurations
  • Perform a variety of tasks including mechanical assembly, soldering, harness routing, bonding, and machining
  • Execute testing such as operational verification testing, reliability/quality evaluation, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in the design, analysis, and manufacturing of electro-mechanical systems, mechanisms (internship and extracurricular experience is applicable)
  • Experience contributing to robot competitions as an design engineer
  • Applicable experience with mechanical assembly, testing, etc.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and mechanical drawing

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of practical experience in electro-mechanical assembly with a strong focus on precision and attention to detail
  • Experience in designing space related hardware (satellites, rovers, etc.)

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to work on weekends as necessary, depending on the work schedule
  • Physical capabilities to independently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds

Salary/Pay

$25/hr - $35/hr

Salary for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
