How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do.
- Design, analyse, verify and document the mechanical aspects of Launch Site Mechanical Ground System and Ground Support Equipment (GSE) including launch fluid tower, test stands and supporting infrastructure using CAD and FEA software.
- Design Mechanical ground support equipment to aid integration and testing of the Mechanical systems.
- Own end-to-end product delivery timelines through conception, design, assembly, and qualification.
- Review specifications and other data integral to mechanical packages and produce O&M documentation for new equipment.
- Create drawings, calculations, reports, and project documentation to support design, test, construction and commissioning of new and upgraded mechanical ground support equipment.
- Lead and support commissioning of Mechanical Systems by developing written procedures and checklists for performing test & commissioning operations as required.
- Fault find and perform rectification of Mechanical GSE
- Coordinate the fabrication, assembly and integration of Mechanical GSE
- Support launch preparations and launch operations.
- Operate and maintain ground support structure equipment for the Bowen Orbital Spaceport.
- Other duties as requested by Management
Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Aerospace Engineering.
- 6+ years of experience with mechanical design and analysis in a professional setting (excluding internships).
- 6+ years of experience with CAD, designing parts and assemblies.
- 3+ years of experience with at least one commercial FEA or Multiphysics simulation package.
- 6+ years of hands-on hardware experience performing fabrication, assembly, integration and/or testing.
Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Chartered Engineer (CPEng) and/or RPEQ status or demonstrated progress toward professional registration.
- Understanding of structural analysis and failure modes of complex aerospace or mechanical systems.
- Analytical/scientific programming experience (Python, Matlab, Excel, etc).
- Experience with multi-disciplinary systems.
- Experience with structural testing.
- Experience with Systems Engineering processes.
- Solid understanding and application of GD&T. Eligibility to obtain a NV1 Security Clearance.

- Well-developed communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work well in an integrated team including daily interactions with technicians, engineers, and managers.
- Self-motivated with strong multi-tasking, organisational, communication and documentation skills.
- Proven Ability to prioritise and manage work demands and deliver outcomes
- Self-motivated, results-oriented with a high level of attention to detail
- Demonstrated commitment to health and safety, quality assurance, continuous improvement, and environmental management
