How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do.
- Financial Management & Reporting
o Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with local accounting standards.
o Develop and maintain internal financial controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and efficiency.
o Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely posting of all transactions.
o Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
o Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for management review.
- Budgeting & Forecasting
o Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process, collaborating with department heads to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
o Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying key variances and recommending corrective actions.
o Support operational decision-making with timely and accurate financial data and analysis.
· Cost Control & Manufacturing Accounting
- Oversee cost accounting activities including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
- Partner with operations to improve cost efficiencies, productivity, and inventory management.
- Analyze production costs, material usage, and labour efficiency to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial and accounting regulations, including IFRS and potentially US GAAP.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accuracy, and accountability within the finance function.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and commercial teams to support strategic initiatives
- Other duties as requested by Management
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial or controller role.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical accounting and financial analysis skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g., Xero, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Exposure to or working knowledge of US GAAP and consolidation reporting.
- Experience coordinating or leading external audits.
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen and attention to detail.
- Experience driving cost improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies and financial process optimisation.
