About Us:

We are Gett. We solve the most complex, real-life problems of urban transportation; as a talented, dynamic and multi-faceted community, we are here to challenge the norms of the industry with our technology and move it into the future.

We set the bar high for ourselves and take pride in delivering frictionless products for all our customers.

We are the people you can rely on when you need to move with confidence, whether you are going places for yourself, for your business, as a traveller or driver or as a partner.

We are very local. We integrate with the existing fabric of the places where we operate: we work hand-in-hand with the local taxis and fleets to provide the best possible service customers can get, where it matters the most.

We serve people who move constantly and we’re one of the best for the most demanding customers: business travellers. That’s where we started, building the best platform for the challenging needs of businesses. And then for anyone’s everyday needs: for drivers who make it their living - every day, and beyond.

About the role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and pragmatic lawyer to join our dynamic in-house Legal team as Legal Counsel. This role will report to the UK Head of Legal.

This is a broad and varied role supporting Gett’s UK business across a wide range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, procurement, data protection, IP, regulatory issues, legal ops, disputes, as well as strategic and internal projects. You will have the opportunity to work directly with key stakeholders across the business, including the B2B sales, operations, finance, strategy, product and R&D teams, as well as the senior leadership team and C-suite.

As well as drafting and negotiating contracts, you may be involved in projects such as business process reviews and audits, updating policies & procedures and other improvement projects, as well as occasional larger projects such as M&A transactions and internal restructurings. From a regulatory perspective, you will have the opportunity to learn about UK transportation regulation, including the London regulatory regime overseen by TfL.

Whilst you will have the chance to take full ownership of matters at an early stage, you will also receive support to help you develop your understanding of Gett’s business and the transportation/mobility tech sector. You will also have the opportunity to instruct external counsel if and when required.

This would be a great first in-house role for an energetic lawyer who can maintain strong attention to detail, but also enjoys interacting with a wide range of business stakeholders and building strong internal relationships.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts across all departments including but not limited to Vendor, Sales, Marketing and Supply side.
  • Providing tailored and practical Legal advice on matters which arise in the business in order to solve problems and best support our Stakeholders
  • Getting involved with larger projects such as internal restructuring and M&A, working cross-functionally with departments and the international teams.
  • Creating, developing and implementing company-wide policies and processes to improve compliance with relevant laws and privacy requirements.
  • Manage and mitigate any Legal risks to the business as they arise and know when to escalate to Leadership if necessary.

Technical and Behavioural Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and high standards in relation to legal documents and drafting – whilst remaining flexible and pragmatic.
  • Willingness to continually and pro-actively improve systems and processes (both within Legal, and to support this mindset in the business more broadly).
  • Ability to communicate clearly to non-legal and senior stakeholders; find creative solutions to problems; and to set firm boundaries when required.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Qualified in the UK or other common law jurisdiction
  • This role will be ideal for someone 1-2 years PQE
  • Experience working in the commercial/corporate practice of a top-tier law firm; and/or in-house at a large tech business. Some in-house experience is preferred but we will consider candidates directly from private practice
  • Ability to draft legal documents to a high standard, with strong attention to detail
  • Experience negotiating commercial contracts and dealing with data protection issues
  • Willingness to build relationships, both internally and externally, with key stakeholders
  • Willingness to continually and pro-actively improve systems, processes, ways of working and legal templates
  • Strong problem-solving skills; diplomatic, enthusiastic, and able to meet challenges with a proactive approach
  • Ability to stay calm under high-pressure and challenging circumstances
  • Effective management of competing priorities in demanding and high-pressure environment
  • Ability to operate independently and effectively across a variety of operational areas, with the flexibility to work with colleagues in other jurisdictions to accommodate meetings and deadlines aligned to their time zones
