We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring designs are electrically sound and that all product engineering requirements are met. What you'll do:

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting Automotive and Production Team initiatives through interactions with manufacturers, suppliers and internal stakeholders, working on mechanical requirements such as tooling and harness specifications. This position is also responsible for managing engineering documentation and drawings and ensuring updated revision control is maintained through hands-on, in-house and in-field testing.

How you'll make an impact

  • Create and maintain harness and cable schematics and other mechanical drawings per engineering requirements and in coordination with QA teams.
  • Work with other engineers and specialists to define objectives.
  • Ensure all testing and compliance criteria is specified on drawings.
  • Build engineering prototypes according to specifications.
  • Maintain document control and revision history (internal and external).
  • Review suggested alternate connectors/parts and supplier drawings for compliance with requirements.
  • Review First Article (FA) samples for compliance to approved specifications.
  • Sign-off on incoming batch samples from shipping.
  • Perform Stack-up/tolerance analysis and review on various products and ensure dimensional accuracy.
  • Manage in-field testing of products in-house, customer or pilot locations.
  • Participate in regular meetings with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Assist production teams with Jig tooling and design.

What you'll bring to the role

  • Bachelors in Engineering - Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-5 years experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Expert knowledge in CAD/CAE modelling (e.g. SolidWorks and add-ins).
  • Experience in all areas of design, prototyping, testing and qualification.
  • Hands-on experience working with various mold tool designs (e.g. insert molding and overmolding).
  • Ability to create, read and interpret 2D/3D modelling.
  • Engineering document control experience to ensure compliance and consistency of documentation throughout the process.
  • Knowledge of Compliance guidelines for harness designs and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) sign-offs.
  • High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
  • A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
