At SpaceWorks Enterprises, we specialize in next-generation high-speed flight systems, human and robotic spacecraft, as well as entry, descent & landing technologies. Our core competencies include conducting preliminary design of aerospace concepts, performing detailed multidisciplinary engineering analysis, developing commercial aerospace software, prototyping spacecraft hardware components, and conducting market and economic research within the aerospace industry. We serve clients from the Department of Defense, NASA, and the commercial space sector.

THE ROLE

SpaceWorks is seeking an experienced technical program manager to drive success and pursue growth in our business areas including innovative engineering design services, technical software, and cutting-edge hardware products. Our program managers play a key role alongside senior leadership as we strive to build and maintain professional relationships with government and commercial clients across the aerospace industry.

Our Program Managers interact directly with the customers we serve, write proposals and quotes to win new business, execute both contracted and internally-funded R&D projects within their assigned portfolio, and move our R&D projects toward production/sales.

A successful candidate will:

• Lead technical staff to deliver successful project outcomes in line with budget, schedule, and quality objectives
  
• Bring an ambitious approach to strengthening our corporate position and seeking opportunities for growth
• Capture new business opportunities through outward-facing engagement, relationship-building, and B&P
  
• Exhibit a "can do" and "want to" attitude - bringing an open-minded approach and a bias toward finding solutions
• Be interested in managing activities in one or more of the following focus areas:
  • Modeling, simulation, and design of high-speed flight systems operating across a variety of flight environments
  • Design, development, prototyping, and testing of aerospace electronics and avionics systems
  • Design, development, prototyping, and testing of in-space and reentry system technologies and components
    

A DAY IN THE LIFE

• Monitor and manage multiple projects, which will include developing project milestones, communicating key program metrics, and supporting customer interactions
• Utilize engineering experience to provide technical reviews for engineering teams
• Use project management skills to organize budgets, schedules, and program plans to ensure successful project deliverables
• Interact regularly with our company's senior leadership to communicate progress, goals, priorities, and resource needs
• Develop technical documentation including proposals, white papers, progress reports, final reports, ICDs, and review meetings
• Lead Internal Research and Development (IRAD) initiatives to develop new technologies and/or position SpaceWorks for new business opportunities

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• 
  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or Operations Management (or substantially similar)
• 3+ years of related aerospace industry experience while managing projects, budgets, resources, and timelines
  
• Self-starter with a passion for seeking new business development opportunities and building upon current projects
• Must be a U.S. citizen and be immediately eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

SKILLS & SOFTWARE

• Demonstrate strategic and innovative thinking with strong technical leadership skills
  
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, collaborative environment typical of a small business
• Desire to lead and manage individual contributors
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Expertise with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
• Proficiency with project management software (e.g. Jira, Planner, Project)

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE...

• Fundamental understanding of a broad range of aerospace disciplines and their interactions including flight mechanics, structures, propulsion, flight software, thermal management, and electronics
• Skills and experience supporting and/or managing aerospace hardware development efforts
• Familiarity with U.S. Government contracting and funding opportunities (e.g. SBIR program, BAAs, Sam.gov)
• Program Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience
• Small business experience
