Overview



Garmin Canada is looking for a Financial Controller responsible for leading the organization’s accounting and financial operations while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. The role oversees the monthly and annual financial close processes, budgeting, cash flow management, tax compliance and financial controls in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. This role partners closely with leadership and department heads to provide financial analysis, business insights, and strategic guidance that support organizational goals and operational performance. Additionally, this role is responsible for developing and mentoring the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Serve as the primary financial interface for Garmin Canada, coordinating financial activities and communication between Garmin Ltd. and its global subsidiaries
  • Direct, mentor and develop the accounting team by setting clear goals, monitoring performance, and fostering accountability and professional growth
  • Lead and manage the monthly and year-end financial close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Prepare and deliver financial reporting to executive management, including financial trends within the business
  • Oversee financial controls and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal policies
  • Prepare and review the annual budgeting process and in collaboration with department heads
  • Assist with accounts receivable activities, including resolving customer disputes and managing bad debt situations
  • Oversee departmental expenses and trends and provide analysis and support to the department heads concerning financial results
  • Support and manage the inter-company transfer pricing process to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Ensure compliance with regional tax requirements and coordinate with company’s tax advisors as required
  • Manage organizational cash flow, foreign exchange risk and financial modeling to support business planning and financial stability for Garmin Canada
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement efficiencies within accounting and financial operations
  • Act as the primary point of contact with auditors as needed
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in an Accounting or Finance field
  • Progressive accounting and financial management experience including leadership responsibilities
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • Experience with budgeting within a multi-unit organization
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations and compliance requirements
  • Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and works well with others
  • Excellent time management and follow-up skills
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
  • Experience with ERP Systems such as Oracle or similar
  • Experience with a financial management systems such as OneStream or similar
