Overview



We are seeking a full-time Planner 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and managing supply chain planning functions supporting the production of Garmin products.

Essential Functions

  • Applies a basic understanding of supply chains, systems and processes used by specific area
  • Understands/drives accountability for department Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
  • Extracts, evaluates data, and provides for decision-making purposes
  • Recognizes issues and provides timely responses and communicates status of work clearly and provides support when called upon
  • Participates in discussions in a team initiative toward goal resolution
  • Plans own daily workload with ability to identify priorities
  • Applies Garmin’s mission statement and quality policy.
  • Learns to apply and use analytical and qualitative methods to understand, predict and enhance product introduction supply chain processes

Lifecycle Planner:

  • Facilitates, coordinates, and project management of new product introductions regarding materials planning, purchasing, and manufacturing

Demand Planner:

  • Performs demand planning tasks including gathering data on product demand and working with customers to make recommendations for changes to forecast while considering channel inventory and sell-through

GSC Planner:

  • Plans finished goods manufacturing and distribution at Garmin production sites and Garmin distribution locations

OEM Program Planner:

  • Facilitates, coordinates, and project management of Automotive OEM programs encompassing all planning disciplines (NPI, Demand, GSC, Production Planning, and Service/Spares Planning) regarding materials planning, purchasing, and manufacturing

Repair and Service Parts Planner:

  • Plans the repair of current production items and manages service parts inventory to support customer needs after the end of mass production

Materials Planner:

  • Monitors component/raw materials inventory and coordinates Lifetime Buys (LTBs) of aviation, consumer, or OEM material to support the production of Garmin products throughout the product life cycle

Production Planner:

  • Interprets demand, develops production plans, and manages inventory of items produced at Garmin manufacturing sites

Inventory/Distribution Planner:

  • Responsible for distribution and inventory planning tasks including the slotting of inventory, replenishment of sales orders for warehouse and retail sales leading distribution and inventory related projects

Warehouse Distribution Planner:

  • Monitors the health of the warehouse, prioritizing work, supporting operations, and troubleshooting orders to ensure a smooth and quick turnaround time from order creation to delivery for all customers

Vendor-Managed Inventory Planner:

  • Responsible for any activities including storage, distribution, and replenishment of material held at offsite locations, collaborating directly with customers and other Garmin teams to fulfill customer requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business Analytics or in a related operations/business field
  • Understands and implements supply chain best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and gain proficient use and knowledge of planning tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain processes
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Demonstrated professional and strong/effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate with cross functional teams/customers
  • Solid understanding of Demand Resource Planning (DRP) or Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), and/or understanding of warehouse, manufacturing, and/or service processes

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous work or internship experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Certified in Production & Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
  • 5+ years experience in material management, production planning, purchasing or distribution, preferably in electronics manufacturing.
  • Previous project management or team facilitator experience
