Overview
We are seeking a full-time VMWare Specialist at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and operations of Garmin’s cloud services and will serve as part of the team that supports the systems responsible for Garmin’s cloud services.

We are seeking a full-time VMWare Specialist at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and operations of Garmin’s cloud services and will serve as part of the team that supports the systems responsible for Garmin’s cloud services.
Essential Functions
- Install, configure, and manage platform-related infrastructure and cluster services in an enterprise environment to support container-based application virtualization via GitOps Design
- Find opportunities for automation and system stability improvements
- Ability to take a “code first” approach to fully automate the deployment and management of cloud infrastructure and environments using Terraform and other tools
- Perform general technical troubleshooting and consult with development teams
- Produce and maintain system configuration documents
- Responsible for providing 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotating basis
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Exposure to modern application cloud native development practices, application and systems architecture
- Experience in shell scripting, Python, or Ansible development
- Ability to provide basic troubleshooting skills and quickly learn new technologies
- Ability to work as part of a team with direct responsibilities and communicate/collaborate effectively with teammates and internal clients
- Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changes in project scope
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
- Exposure to public cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Experience in delivering applications to production with software development technologies, frameworks, and API development experience
- Some programming experience in a Linux/Windows environment with at least one language like Golang, Python, Java, JavaScript, Rust, Groovy, or C/C++
- Some experience with CI/CD and developer tools like Jenkins, Nexus, Bitbucket (Git), and Harbor
- Good understanding of infrastructure such as network, storage, data retention, compute, load balancing, and virtualization
- Knowledge of enterprise level container-based systems (OpenShift, Docker, CRI-O, Kubernetes, etc.)
