We are seeking a full-time Supervisor Technical - Aviation Manufacturing at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating processes, associates and supplies to optimize performance and quality related to technical manufacturing, repair and/or troubleshooting to maintain desired turnaround and customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions
- Manage application of electronic theory, electrical testing procedures and related knowledge to repair and newly overhaul product returned by Garmin customers
- Monitor production, attendance, quality and all aspects of department, counsel/instruct associates as needed, and train associates on all processes and procedures
- Responsible for supervising the workflow and training new hires
- Must be able to delegate tasks, resolve problems, and ensure efficient processes
- Review work orders, product specifications, technical instructions and facility requirements to requisitions tools, equipment, supplies and parts
- Request overtime as necessary to meet departmental goals and standards
- Apply statistical methods to estimate future requirements for staffing and equipment needs
- Estimate production times and determine optimum staffing to meet goals and standards
- Interview and furnish justifications along with recommendations to hire additional staff
- Coordinate operation, maintenance and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and systems
- Analyze/evaluate processes making recommendations for changes
- Provide reports to management on turnaround, production, profit and loss, etc.
- Report department needs to management
- Present all requests, or suggestions with appropriate technical and supporting data
- Conduct performance evaluations
- Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure safety
- Perform repairs to units as available
- Coordinate and provide training/mentoring in conjunction with the assigned mentor
- Certain areas must ensure DOT compliance
- Cleanliness zone area requirements: This position requires Garmin provided personal protective equipment including SD shoes (Static Dissipative Footwear) to be always worn for an entire shift to minimize the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) and meet specified standards
- Associates Degree in Electronics Technology, Vocational Certification in Electronics Technology, a substantially related field of Military training, a minimum of 80 hours towards a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Technology or a related field OR an Electronic Technician Certification (International Society of Certified Electronic Technicians (ISCET) or Electronic Technicians Associate International (ETA-I)
- Must possess 1 year related experience
- Must possess previous leadership experience
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented and work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to prioritize/multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment while meeting deadlines and must possess excellent time management/follow-up skills
- Superior organizational/analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in Electronics
- Previous Electronics Technician supervisory experience
- Previous Electronics troubleshooting experience
- Ability to speak and write in a foreign language
