Overview

We are seeking a full-time Associate Graphic Designer at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for providing effective creative solutions for a wide variety of traditional mediums and preparing final artwork for production and will also work with business partners to perform final layouts on basic launch and campaign materials.

Essential Functions

  • Conceptualize and design layouts for basic projects and presentations
  • Exercise independent judgment to lead creative reviews across multiple basic project types
  • Oversee layouts into finished comps for approvals and for final production, including printer and vendor specifications
  • Identify and define project parameters in collaboration with team members and business partners to ensure brand alignment
  • Complete broadly-defined, basic projects for print, social, digital and more, leveraging knowledge of multiple creative disciplines
  • Evaluate proposed and ongoing programs and projects to provide meaningful feedback and direction
  • Proactively recommend improvements for processes, standards and guidelines
  • Direct small-scale photo and video shoots
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with other Garmin associates
  • Understand and apply Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values & Quality Policy


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree OR a combination of education and relevant experience
  • Outstanding academic qualifications with ability to effectively apply learned knowledge
  • Efficient in Mac OS computer skills utilizing the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and Keynote
  • Portfolio demonstrating experience in developing basic projects in design and layout
  • Awareness of the application of pre-press production methods and final production follow through
  • Good working awareness of various methods and resources to implement a concept or idea
  • Aptitude to learn and effectively apply knowledge of Communications practices, processes, programs and technology
  • Ability to estimate the level of effort for a task
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate the ability to maintain accuracy and a high level of quality in a fast paced environment
  • Must be team oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of Garmin’s organization, customers, market segments, products, operations and strategies
  • Demonstrate an understanding of effective time management, organizational, and follow up skills


Desired Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Figma
  • College degree in Visual Communication, Graphic Design or related field
