Garmin International seeks Senior Cloud Engineer (Olathe, KS; Multiple Positions):
Essential Functions
- Install, configure, and manage platform-related infrastructure and cluster services in an enterprise environment to support container-based application virtualization via GitOps Design.
- Find opportunities for automation, improved system stability, and performance improvements.
- Lead the implementation of approved solutions, manage capacity, and ensure security policies are met.
- Ability to take a “code first” approach to fully automate the deployment and management of cloud infrastructure and environments using Terraform and other tools.
- Interact with development teams on onboarding the platform and utilizing ecosystem development tools.
- Support development pipelines using tools like Tekton, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Github, GitLab, and Sonatype Nexus.
- Advanced ability to troubleshoot an application load balancer following OSI Layer principles.
- Perform general technical troubleshooting and consult with development teams.
- Utilize correlated data sources to ensure maximum operational uptime and adherence to SLOs/SLAs.
- Partner with cross organizational teams to plan/implement applications to support business requirements.
- Produce and maintain system configuration documents and standards.
- Responsible for providing 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
- Associates are permitted to work from home, within commuting distance of office, up to two days per week provided their job duties can be performed effectively while working from home, and if they have appropriate approval from their manager.
- Full-time remote work is not available.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, plus 5 years of progressive experience in the software development environment.
Must show demonstrated experience in the following:
- Modern application cloud native development practices and application/system architecture.
- Network infrastructure including Cisco, and load balancing technologies including HA Proxy and Netscaler.
- Shell scripting or Python.
- Cloud technologies including Azure.
- CI/CD and developer tools like Jenkins and Git.
- Enterprise cloud solutions, like Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Container-as-a-Service (CaaS), and IT automation.
- Building Microservice and Cloud-native applications in a CI/CD automated, multi-tenant application environment with multiple partners and use cases.
- Managing on-prem enterprise level container-based systems using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Observability / logging using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Kafka, and Kibana.
In lieu of a Bachelor’s plus five years of experience, a Master’s degree plus three years of experience and demonstrated experience in the requirements noted above is acceptable.
