Overview
We are seeking a full-time Sr. Director Operations Garmin Miramar in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing site direction and leadership for operational areas including Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Distribution, Process Engineering, Automation, Quality, and Environmental Health and Safety to achieve business goals and objectives.
Essential Functions
- Develop, direct, meet and achieve goals and objectives to align with company
- Partner with global sites/segments to develop plans and capabilities within the areas of responsibility to achieve business goals and support continued business growth
- Support industrialization of new products and introduction of new technologies to optimize manufacturing and operations
- Develop capabilities and ensure effective operations throughout all areas
- Ensure product issues are identified/addressed in a timely manner
- Ensure management systems are effective in achieving the desired outcomes and complying with regulatory/industry standards
- Ensure site alignment with Garmin’s global approach
- Lead, manage and coach direct reports to strive for excellence while maintaining values
- Partner/collaborate with Operations leadership and work across business functions/locations to achieve desired business and operational results
- Ensure site alignment with areas of operations across global operations
- Support/drive process improvements, assignment of associates, planning of projects, and tracking of metrics
- Ensure efficient use of material, manpower, machines and methods with improvement in operational efficiencies
- Develop a team culture which is fully aligned with Garmin’s Mission, Vision, Values and Strategies
- Management of budgets and staffing/recruiting plans to support business and operational needs
- Provide data for plans and projects
- Partner with Human Resources to evaluate associate performance, address associate relations issues, and ensure adequate succession for critical roles
- Responsible for hiring and maintaining an effective and efficient workforce
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Must possess a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated leadership experience
- Must possess previous experience in electronics manufacturing and engineering robotics
- Demonstrated knowledge of operations industry-standards and ability to apply standards
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively across functional and organizational lines
- Must possess the ability to exercise sound independent judgment with ability to effectively coach and mentor others
- Superior organizational/analytical/time management skills, keen attention to detail/quality, and able to multi-task/prioritize
- Must demonstrate excellent problem solving and project management experience working effectively with cross-functional teams
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
- Demonstrates solid operational business acumen
- High level of initiative, energy and drive with a results-oriented track record and commitment to success
- Demonstrates advanced proficiency and knowledge of current software including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering, Master of Business Administration, or an Operations related field
- International business experience
- Background in a growth-oriented consumer electronics/technology firm or dynamic entrepreneurial endeavor
