Overview
We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Quality - Automotive OEM in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team in driving activities to ensure and improve the quality and reliability of Garmin’s products throughout all phases of the product life cycle.
Essential Functions
- Conduct regular reviews of customer quality data and communicate feedback and improvement plans with customer areas including external/internal measurements, corrective actions, and implementation of improvement processes and programs
- Drive timely issue resolution through regular reviews of single issues list
- Manage the analysis and utilization of data and information from product inspection, sales/return data, and Product Support to improve product/processes across various Garmin sites
- Work with Design Engineering to fulfill customer contractual requirements relating to quality requirements as flowed down from the customer agreements (PPAP, FMEA, capability studies, gage studies) and participate in ECO reviews
- Support statistical analysis to meet operations, manufacturing, engineering, supplier or customer requirements
- Provide expertise and training for continuous improvement methodologies, problem-solving methodologies, statistical techniques and quality tools
- Provide support to drive supplier quality issues to resolution by working with Global Supply Chain
- Team with Design Engineering, Process Engineering, Reliability, Materials/Purchasing, Customer Repair, and Manufacturing in introducing new products into Manufacturing. Areas may include: championing lessons learned at design reviews, analyzing and/or developing product/process quality plan
- Champion activities to maximize reliability of both new and existing products. Activities may include: assisting in design of experiments to measure product life and reliability, assisting in development and application of reliability testing strategies including HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test) and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening), recommending design or process improvements to enhance reliability, measuring/maintaining field reliability data and communicating results
- Work with Design Engineering, Materials, Manufacturing, Customer Repair, and Process Engineering to identify/implement process/design improvements to improve production yield and product quality. Areas may include: analyzing process performance and identify/implement methods for reducing process variation, assisting in design of experiments to improve supplier material and production processes, performing failure analysis investigations to determine root cause of product failures, reviewing/analyzing production, quality, maintenance and operational data to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and production problems
- Interview, hire, and train associates; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance
- Set the tone for the team environment and build healthy team relationships
- Lead the development efforts of team members with diverse capability levels
- Create, implement, and deliver training programs as directed to support Quality initiatives
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline or a field relevant for the successful performance of this job description OR a minimum of 4 years relevant experience
- Must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience working with various continuous improvement methodologies
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and mentor others
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Must demonstrate effective and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
- Must demonstrate excellent project management with a high level of interpersonal skills to work proactively across functional and organizational lines
- Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines with minimal supervision
Desired Qualifications
- Proficient knowledge of ISO9000, AS9100, TS16949 and related quality certifications related to consumer product
- Demonstrated technical of continuous improvement tools such as DMAIC, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), statistical methods, and designed experiments
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance tools / techniques including Advance Product Quality Planning, FMEA, SPC, PPAP, and MSA
