Overview
We are seeking a full-time Payroll Analyst 3 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for serving as a subject matter expert in activities necessary to process, verify and reconcile payroll using ADP Payroll and time/attendance records in an accurate and timely manner, ensuring compliance with governmental regulations.
Essential Functions
- Assist with training and mentoring less experienced team members
- Serve as a subject matter expert in payroll processing and time/attendance processing activities
- Provide guidance, counsel, and information to associates on complex payroll related questions
- Ensures that payroll tax procedures are compliant with all governmental regulations
- Develop/suggest/participate in the implementation of process improvements for efficient payroll processing and assist with review of tax amendments
- Monitor/process restricted, deferred and special stock options to ensure all are accurately updated for W-2 reporting and assist with specialty payroll items impacting W-2 reporting
- Resolve discrepancies referred by government, state and local agencies
- Complete jurisdictional setups, changes and deletions
- Complete tax jurisdiction setups to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines
- Collaborate with ADP and handle responses to agency tax audits
- Maintain, update and ensure execution of proper payroll and tax procedures
- Review compliance for multi-state taxing jurisdiction and reporting
- Review for auditing/compliance setting up and processing garnishments, child support orders, bankruptcies and levies
- Review for approval biweekly journal entries into month end allocations
- Create and/or provide requested reports using ADP Reporting or Kronos reporting tools
- Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced team members to ensure compliance with HR related legislation and policies with oversight from payroll leadership and legal
- Manage resources to meet goals and lead assigned payroll and/or benefits initiatives with client group
- Lead implementation of process improvements in the Payroll functional area to continuously improve efficiency and customer service
- Conduct assessments and recommend methods to address problems and implement payroll related solutions to achieve HR tactical goals
- Ensure compliance with HR related legislation and regulations and Garmin HR/Payroll policies with oversight from HR management/Legal
- Apply a sense of urgency, commitment and focus on the right priorities
- Work collaboratively and professionally with other Garmin associates and perform as a solid contributor on cross functional teams to achieve goals
- Independently determine general approach and specific solutions to technical problems
- Provide reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem solving techniques and apply good judgment in setting schedules and risk taking

- Manage administration of employer provided benefit plans including calculation and reconciliation of benefit plan bills and set up of deductions using ADP software
- Collaborate closely with outside payroll/benefits vendors including coordinating with third party administrator/insurance carrier to resolve enrollment or billing discrepancies
- Leverage expertise to resolve any discrepancies for all benefits/401k issues
- Participate in review of the 401k confirmation for TRP
- Complete 401k audits and discrimination testing
- Gather and review information required for audit purposes
- Ensure compliant reporting of benefits
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR Master’s Degree in HR, Business or related discipline AND a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Demonstrates proficient knowledge and possesses a minimum of 3 years experience processing payroll, leveraging knowledge of payroll compliance and payroll taxing regulations
- Must demonstrate proficient computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Demonstrates proficient knowledge of the organization, business, operations, industry and key organization metrics
- Proven reputation as an approachable and effective Payroll professional serving associates and the organization
- Demonstrates leadership presence with securing management support
- Demonstrates an effective track record with mentoring or training less experienced team members including compliance with HR/Payroll related legislation, practices, processes/procedures, programs, and technologies
- Applies broad-based payroll knowledge to business needs in a proactive manner and determines best practices to support organizational direction
- Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills including fluency in the language of business administration and senior leaders
- Demonstrates consistent focus on accountability/achievement of HR/Payroll strategic and tactical goals with proven track record in delivering high quality solutions on time/within the budget
- Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems and mentoring others on effective problem solving
- Consistently demonstrates the ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task and provides training to less experienced team members on achieving this skill
- Demonstrates proficient advanced knowledge in the use of data, evidence-based research, benchmarks, payroll and business metrics to make critical decisions
- Demonstrates the ability to assess business situations and recommend suggestions for improving business results and team execution of Payroll strategies
- Must possess demonstrated effective presentation skills and public speaking ability
- Must possess previous experience and commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding business and Human Resources matters
- Serves as leader for demonstrating effective time management, organizational, and follow up skills with a keen attention to detail/quality and being team oriented/possessing a positive attitude
Desired Qualifications
- FPC or CPP designation
- Previous experience using ADP payroll software
- Previous experience using Kronos Workforce Central Time/Attendance software
- Previous experience with implementing and/or upgrading payroll or HRIS software
- Previous experience processing payroll for 1000+ employees
