Overview
We are seeking a full-time Paralegal - Litigation in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, will perform core activities related to litigation discovery, litigation support, subpoena responses, contract management and review, legal research, internal legal support, and general civil, product liability and commercial litigation support. The Paralegal - Litigation will report to the Associate General Counsel - Litigation and also work under the direction of other attorneys, including Senior Counsel – Litigation.
Essential Functions
- Provide support for litigation discovery, including depositions, written discovery and document collection
- Organization of litigation and other legal files, both internal and external
- Respond to various subpoenas, including subpoenas/legal process from third parties, global law enforcement, and global government regulatory entities
- Assist in the preparation and review of litigation documents, including pleadings, briefs, etc.
- Collaboration with various members of the Legal Department. Teamwork is a hallmark of the Legal Department
- Assistance with managing Garmin’s responses and actions related to new or existing regulatory requirements related to Garmin’s products and business operations
- Prepare and assist with non-disclosure agreements
- Assist with contract review for OEMs, vendors, suppliers, and business partners with a focus on contractual liability provisions
- Assist with contract management, including file organization
- Ability to manage and maintain confidential information to ensure all Garmin data is handled securely in compliance with Garmin policies
- Understand and apply Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values & Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibit a desire to see Garmin succeed
- General support of Garmin's Legal department on other matters, as needed
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree AND paralegal certificate
- Minimum of 5 years law firm litigation experience as a paralegal
- Demonstrate proficient research and analytical skills
- Demonstrated experience in product liability litigation
- Proven experience in litigation support, including familiarity with the litigation process and relevant procedures
- Demonstrated experience in responding to subpoenas and other legal process, including familiarity with requirements
- Superior organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and accomplish tasks
- Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in responding to subpoenas and other legal process, including familiarity with requirements
- Team-oriented philosophy and willingness to go the extra mile to complete tasks in an accurate and timely fashion
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with litigation and document collection and review software systems and databases, including the collection and review of electronically-stored information (ESI).
- Trial support experience.
