Overview



We are seeking a full-time Supervisor Calibration Lab in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising the activities of the Calibration lab functions including all Garmin Inspection, Measuring, and Test Equipment (IMTE) calibration activities and providing leadership and accountability to maintain effectiveness and improve the performance of the functions to meet assigned requirements. Ensure that all personnel work is in compliance with work procedures and corporate policies through ongoing review, training, and performance evaluations.

Essential Functions

  • Supervise Calibration associates to ensure associates understand their assigned tasks, perform tasks as assigned, and comply with all company polices in the performance of work
  • Supervise daily work activities of the Calibration Lab to provide for effective scheduling and throughput performance while maintaining priorities with other Garmin departments
  • Create, review, and/or issue fixtures, procedures and work instructions
  • Implement/provide delivery of training programs and maintain training status for the Calibration Lab associates to cover workplace and environment safety and emergency shutdown of equipment and devices
  • Maintain/ensure the integrity of calibration records and data collection as implemented on an on-going basis
  • Create/distribute operational performance reports as directed by management
  • Lead resources and systems for the calibration of Garmin IMTE including: calibration schedules and recall system, in-house vs. outsource decisions, technician training, procedure and work instruction development/maintenance, record keeping, and equipment standards and purchases
  • Notify management of any conditions felt as being undesirable including conditions effecting personnel and property safety, associate discrimination, or any other disregard of company policies by other persons
  • Interview/furnish justifications along with recommendations to hire additional staff
  • Coordinate operation, maintenance and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and systems
  • Analyze and evaluate processes making recommendations for changes
  • Provide reports to management on turnaround, production, profit and loss, etc.
  • Report department needs to management
  • Present all requests, or suggestions to management with appropriate technical and supporting data
  • Conduct Performance Evaluations, counsel/coach associates when necessary, and partner with Human Resources for recruiting/resolving associate relations issues
  • Comply with all corporate/departmental policies in the performance of work or workplace activities
  • Perform any tasks or duties required to support the Garmin International operation, as directed by department or corporate management on an as needed basis
  • Maintain effective work area organization and cleanliness to provide for: operator safety, and assurance from product or equipment damage or contamination that could be caused by any foreign materials such as Electro Static Discharge (ESD) producing materials, food or drinks

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or vocational program in Computer Science, Electronics, Industrial Engineering or a related technical field OR a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
  • Must possess previous supervisory/management experience in a calibration lab, manufacturing, warehouse or operations related environment
  • Demonstrated strong computer experience using Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize/multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment while meeting deadlines
  • Must possess excellent time management/follow-up skills and demonstrate superior organizational/analytical skills with keen attention to detail and quality
  • Must possess ability to move, work and test equipment to and from work area to initiate and complete essential functions assigned
  • Must possess the ability to bend, twist and lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, standing for an entire shift and walking long distances throughout the facility

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Operations related field
  • Previous Electronics Technician or Metrologist experience
  • Certified Quality Engineer by the American Society of Quality
