Overview
We are seeking a full-time Automation Engineer Intern in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust and scalable automated solutions to support manufacturing and distribution.
Essential Functions
- Develop all aspects of engineering design: electrical, safety, PLC/HMI/robotic programming, mechanical integration
- Ensure all solutions comply with product design specifications
- Generate revision-controlled design and user documentation
- Participate in design reviews and present solutions to team and management
- Troubleshoot, support and continuously improve existing automated solutions
- Research and development of new, cutting-edge automation concepts
- Collaborate with project teams across Garmin (Olathe & Taiwan)
Basic Qualifications
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
- Previous, hands-on automation experience involving robotics, electrical panel design, industrial controls and programming
- Excellent problem solving ability
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
Desired Qualifications
- Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA grater than or equal to 3.5)
