Job Description

About GalaxEye Space
GalaxEye Space is a pioneer in the Earth Observation (EO) industry, building the world's first multi-sensor imaging satellite. By combining Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Multi-Spectral Imager (MSI) through our proprietary SyncFused technology, we provide high-resolution, all-weather, and day-night imaging capabilities that were previously impossible.
The Principal Image Analyst is a strategic leadership position responsible for the end-to-end management of our Data Operations. You will lead the imagery team—spanning Senior, Associate, and Junior Image Analysts—to translate mission objectives into high-quality data products. You will own the entire lifecycle of data production, from early-stage planning and sensor calibration to final execution, tracking, and delivery of space-borne and drone-borne products.

Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Team Management
Team Oversight: Lead and mentor a multi-tiered team of Senior Image Analysts, Image Analysts, and Junior Analysts.
Workflow Management: Design and optimize the end-to-end data operations workflow, ensuring seamless coordination between mission planning, data acquisition, and product generation.
Resource Allocation: Manage team bandwidth and technical assignments to meet rigorous project deadlines and R&D milestones.

2. End-to-End Mission Planning & Execution
Planning: Collaborate with the Space Engineering team to define optimal imaging parameters (incidence angles, polarization, spectral configurations) for specific customer requirements.
Execution: Supervise the processing of X-band SAR, MSI, and SyncFused data, ensuring all products meet the "GalaxEye Standard" for geometric and radiometric fidelity.
Tracking: Implement robust project tracking systems to monitor data delivery timelines, sensor health from an imagery perspective, and processing pipeline efficiency.

3. Advanced Algorithm & Product Stewardship
Innovation: Drive the research roadmap for next-generation SyncFused products, overlooking algorithm feasibility studies performed by the senior staff.
Sensor Fusion: Take ownership of quality of co-registration and fusion of SAR and MSI datasets, ensuring physical consistency across varied environmental conditions.
Drone-to-Space Strategy: Oversee the transition of algorithms validated on drone-borne platforms to the satellite processing chain.

4. Global Calibration, Validation, and QA/QC
Standard Setting: Define the global benchmarks for Calibration and Validation (Cal/Val) across the GalaxEye constellation.
QA/QC Oversight: Own the final sign-off for major data deliveries, ensuring that both satellite imagery and drone-borne data meet stringent internal and external quality metrics (SNR, MTF, IRF).
Framework Development: Direct the development of automated evaluation frameworks that scale with a growing constellation.

5. Stakeholder Communication
Bridge Technical & Business: Translate complex sensor limitations and data product capabilities into clear technical specifications for the business and sales teams.
Customer Interface: Act as a technical expert in high-level customer discussions regarding data quality and specialized use cases.

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications
-Educational Background: PhD or Master’s in Remote Sensing, Signal Processing, Electrical Engineering, or a highly related field.
-Experience: 5+ years in the Earth Observation industry, with at least 1+ years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
-Deep Domain Expertise: Knowledge of X-band SAR (imaging modes, interferometry, polarimetry).
-Multi-Spectral Imaging and atmospheric compensation techniques.
-Hands-on experience in Multi-sensor Data Fusion.
-Project Management: Proven track record of managing complex technical projects using Agile or similar methodologies.
-Technical Stack: Good proficiency in Python.

Preferred Qualifications
-Experience in building or managing a Data Operations team from the ground up in a startup environment.
-Direct involvement in a satellite mission launch and early-orbit phase (LEOP) calibration.
-Published research or patents in the field of SAR-Optical fusion or sensor calibration.

Benefits

Why Join GalaxEye Space?
As the Principal Image Analyst, you will hold the keys to the world’s most unique EO dataset. You will have the autonomy to build a team and define the processes that turn raw signals from space into actionable intelligence for the planet.
