Job Description

GalaxEye Space pioneers Earth Observation by integrating Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Multi-Spectral Imager (MSI), and proprietary SyncFused products (SAR + MSI fusion). We are seeking a motivated and skilled Senior Full Stack Geospatial Engineer to join our Data Operations team. This role focuses on transforming raw satellite data into high-quality, customer-ready products by designing, building, and maintaining end-to-end geospatial data processing pipelines deployed in cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

Data Pipeline Development & Engineering:

  • Design and develop scalable, high-performance geospatial ETL/ELT pipelines for SAR, MSI, and SyncFused sensor data.

  • Automate ingestion, pre-processing, orthorectification, calibration, and final product generation for large remote sensing datasets.

  • Write reusable, high-quality software libraries in Python or relevant languages supporting data product standards.

Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps:

  • Deploy, manage, and monitor pipelines on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP using serverless, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and storage solutions (e.g., S3).

  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for secure, continuous software deployment.

  • Optimize cloud resource use for cost-efficiency and high-throughput geospatial processing.

Full Stack Development & API:

  • Design and build APIs and web services to provide internal and external access to processed data and analytics.

  • Contribute to front-end or web-GIS applications for visualization, monitoring, and user interaction.

Standards and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all data products comply with industry standards (CEOS, ISO) and client requirements.

  • Implement data quality assessment and validation at pipeline stages, focusing on sensor-specific calibration.

  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for software, pipelines, and products.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in Full Stack Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or related roles with a focus on geospatial or remote sensing data.

  • Strong proficiency in Python and geospatial libraries (GDAL, Rasterio, GeoPandas, Shapely).

  • Understanding of GIS concepts, map projections, coordinate reference systems (CRS), and spatial analysis is a plus.

  • Experience in designing scalable data processing solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).

  • Proficiency with spatial databases like PostgreSQL/PostGIS.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in Agile/Scrum teams and collaborate across functions.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with SAR and MSI data processing algorithms and formats.

  • Familiarity with cloud-native geospatial formats like Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF (COG), STAC.

  • Experience deploying ML/DL models for geospatial analysis and feature extraction.

  • Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and performance bonuses

  • Health insurance and wellness programs

  • Flexible work arrangements

  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge Earth Observation technologies

  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
