SAR Data Product Engineer
GalaxEye Space
Job Description
GalaxEye Space is pioneering next-generation Earth Observation (EO) solutions, specializing in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Multi-Spectral (MSI) imagery. We deliver high-fidelity, high-value SyncFused products by fusing SAR and MSI data to customers worldwide.
Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled SAR Data Product Engineer to join our data acquisition and delivery team. This critical role focuses on ensuring the quality, consistency, and timely delivery of satellite SAR data products. The ideal candidate is a SAR GIS expert capable of designing robust data pipelines and developing automated quality assurance and control (QA/QC) systems.
Key Responsibilities
Product Pipeline Development: Design and implement end-to-end data product generation pipelines for SAR and SyncFused products, collaborating closely with backend teams.
GIS Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert for geospatial aspects of SAR data, including geocoding, orthorectification, and GIS integration.
QA/QC Strategy: Define and develop test cases and metrics to ensure product quality, focusing on geometric accuracy, radiometric calibration, and data integrity.
Automation: Build scalable, automated pipelines for continuous QA/QC, ensuring adherence to GalaxEye’s quality standards.
Data Delivery Coordination: Work with mission control and operations teams to streamline raw data acquisition through to final product delivery.
Mathematical Application: Utilize strong understanding of SAR mathematical models (e.g., range-Doppler, coordinate systems, terrain correction algorithms) to validate data products.
Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of products, QA/QC procedures, and pipeline architectures.
Requirements
SAR & GIS Expertise: Minimum 1 year professional experience with SAR data and advanced knowledge of GIS tools and workflows (ArcGIS, QGIS, GDAL).
Pipeline Engineering: Experience designing and implementing automated data processing pipelines, preferably in cloud environments.
Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, GeoPandas, and rasterio for geospatial data processing.
QA/QC Experience: Proven ability to define quality standards, develop test cases, and implement automated validation for geospatial products.
Mathematical Aptitude: Solid grasp of SAR geometry and processing concepts related to geocoding, terrain correction, and product accuracy.
