MSI Data Product Engineer
GalaxEye Space
Job Description
GalaxEye Space is pioneering next-generation Earth Observation (EO) solutions, specializing in Multi-Spectral Imagery (MSI) and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data. We deliver high-fidelity, high-value SyncFused products by fusing SAR and MSI data to customers worldwide.
Role Summary
We are looking for a highly skilled MSI Data Product Engineer to join our data acquisition and delivery team. This role ensures the quality, consistency, and timely delivery of satellite MSI data products. The ideal candidate is an MSI GIS expert adept at designing robust data pipelines and developing comprehensive automated QA/QC mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities
Product Pipeline Development: Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end data product generation pipelines for MSI and SyncFused products, from initial calibration to level 2 (reflectance) products.
GIS Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert on geospatial aspects of MSI data including geometric correction, orthorectification, image registration, and large-scale mosaicking within GIS environments.
QA/QC Strategy: Define and develop test cases and metrics ensuring geometric accuracy, radiometric fidelity, spectral consistency, and data integrity of MSI products.
Automation: Build automated, scalable pipelines for continuous QA/QC to uphold GalaxEye’s quality standards.
Data Delivery: Collaborate with ground segment and operations teams to optimize data flow from raw acquisition to final delivery.
Principles and Modeling: Apply understanding of MSI mathematical and physical principles, including radiometric calibration, atmospheric correction, and photometric modeling to validate product quality.
Documentation: Create detailed documentation for MSI data products, QA/QC procedures, and pipeline architectures.
Requirements
MSI & GIS Expertise: Minimum 1 year professional experience working directly with Multi-Spectral Imagery data, with expert knowledge of GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS, GDAL, ENVI).
Pipeline Engineering: Proven ability to design and implement automated data processing pipelines, preferably on cloud platforms.
Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, GeoPandas, rasterio for geospatial data manipulation and scripting.
QA/QC Experience: Ability to define quality standards, develop test cases, and implement automated validation for geospatial products.
Mathematical/Physical Aptitude: Solid understanding of MSI data processing concepts, including conversion of Digital Numbers (DN) to radiance and atmospherically corrected reflectance.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with large-scale EO data processing on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Familiarity with SAR data and multi-sensor fusion challenges (SyncFused products).
Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices for pipeline deployment.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Computer Science, or related field.
