GalaxEye aims to shape the future of Satellite Image Acquisition, providing the most meaningful dataset, thus helping businesses and governments make data-driven decisions based on insights from satellite imagery. We will provide Satellite Imagery Datasets and Value added services to Geospatial Analytics Companies and Infrastructure enterprises. At GalaxEye, we are working to build the best remote sensing satellite and also we are researching on various aspects of remote sensing.
We are looking for a Systems Engineer to work on Electro-Optical Systems who can join us and help design, assemble and operate optical imaging telescopes to be deployed in Space. The job requires you to lead efforts on developing an optical payload from the requirements definition to the calibration for working in space environments. The selected candidate is expected to support future R&D efforts, acting as a scientific expert in light sensing.
Qualification:
Master’s degree or higher in Optical Engineering is required, as well as significant industry experience.
Minors or B.Tech in Electronics is preferred
Responsibilities:
- You will assume engineering accountability for optical component, module, or subsystem design from concept through final qualification
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts as needed to improve safety, cost, quality and operability of the Optical systems
- You will generate component (active and passive) specifications, design, development and qualification in the lab and on-system
- Interacts closely with development engineers, supply chain engineers, suppliers, and QA to resolve quality issues
- Develop test plans for optical sensor testing and characterisation and determine techniques and infrastructure required to accomplish test objectives
- Active participation in design reviews and delivering qualification reports
- It may be needed to travel (domestic or international) to support design and manufacturing activities including quality control and source inspection from time to time
- Installation, alignment, and integration of electro-optics
- Working In clean room environments while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum 4 years of Optical product development, including a strong “hands-on” background with laboratory and field experience
- Strong understanding of either electronics or signal processing
- Experience in using optical metrology tools like wavefront sensors, collimators, etc for integration, alignment and verification of payload electronics
- Proficient in MATLAB/Python to be used in system engineering and design optimization.
- Strong command in tolerance analysis of optical systems, including the use of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Exposure/knowledge about thermal properties, space-qualified materials, and adhesives.
- Hands-on can-do attitude, great interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively across many technical teams
- Knowledge of Remote sensing theory, applications, systems, and techniques
- Must be able to read and interpret data, information, and documents
Preferred
- Experience with sequential and non-sequential optical design and analysis software such as Zemax
- Detail-oriented team leader who can consistently meet deadlines
- Experience with complex, tight-tolerance opto-mechanical design
