Senior Analysis Engineer

At Frontier Aerospace, the Senior Analysis Engineer role is a key contributor to the development of propulsion products. Individuals in this role are responsible for leading the analysis of structural, thermal, fluid analysis, and performance analysis of components and assemblies used in the creation of product definitions and specifications for propulsion systems and products. A successful candidate will have a strong grasp of finite element analysis, first principle structural and thermal assessment, and hydrodynamic analysis and their application to real products. They will also be able to prepare detailed analysis reports in a timely manner for use in internal design reviews and customer briefings and will also demonstrate a strong ability to explain boundary conditions, analysis assumptions, and results anchoring justification.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and run analysis simulations using ANSYS Fluent and Mechanical software packages.
  • Apply principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics to the design of components and subsystems to create functional and reliable products that operate safely.
  • Apply requirements of NASA-STD-5012, 5020, SMC-S-16, and similar industry standards to the design analysis of products to ensure they meet industry standard margins for strength and life.
  • Perform analysis trade studies and optimizations to inform design decisions.
  • Inform test instrumentation selection and placement to maximize the value of collected cold-flow and hot-fire test data for anchoring and characterization
  • Interface with internal and external customers to verify analysis requirements, boundary conditions, and bounding cases to inform proper simulation setup.
  • Contribute to the advancement of the engineering / testing department by generating analysis standards and tools to be used across disciplines.
  • Work collaboratively with all disciplines to prepare and present customer briefings, design reviews, and other pertinent programmatic information.
  • Additional responsibilities may be levied on the Senior Analysis Engineer to meet critical business needs and operational deadlines. Additional duties can include; design support, hardware assembly, validation testing, planning, hardware kitting, courier activities and more.

Relevant Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering (Advanced degree in engineering preferred)
  • 5+ years of professional analysis experience or 3+ years of professional analysis experience and a Master’s degree in Structural/Thermal Analysis
  • 5+ years professional experience with ANSYS Fluent, Workbench, Mechanical, and SpaceClaim
  • 3D CAD experience (Creo Parametric and Windchill PLM preferred)
  • Functional knowledge of aerospace material, treatments, and processes
  • Ability to contribute to design brainstorming sessions to identify structure / thermal / fluids problems.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of GD&T per (ASME Y14.5-2009)

Pay: Annual Salary $100,000 - $165,000 DOE

Note about pay range: Pay range for this job level is a general guideline for California and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.

Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked – and have every other Friday off
