The Opportunity:

We are seeking a data engineer with experience working on pipeline-centric projects to join our Machine Learning team and assist our researchers in the creation and maintenance of efficient pipelines. As part of the role you will be able to develop and communicate a vision for machine learning data pipelines and processing that enables independent research and efficient automatic optimisation. You will have ownership over the file-streaming and data processing architecture, and enable deployment of branchless execution graphs to both large scale data pipelines and export for execution on edge devices. The role offers additional scope to improve data collection and labelling by developing automatic labelling systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of ML data pipelines to ensure fast and repeatable data serving for training.
  
• Provide expert guidance and team leadership on branchless code optimisations and efficiency.
  
• Assist teams across the organisation in creating and managing regression tests for user acceptance testing.
  
• Assist and provide guidance to Android and Data management specialists to ensure performant data collection and management processes.
  
• Management of sensitive and GDPR related data access and permissions.
  
  

Your Experience

Essential

• Professional experience working on data pipelines, branchless optimisation or data-oriented software development
  
• Coding experience across Python, C/C++, bash
  
• Tensorflow or similar ML training framework
  
  

Desirable

• Developing code for multi-parallel execution (e.g. Tensorflow, Julia GPU, OpenCL, Vulkan, CUDA, OpenMP e.t.c.)
  
• Communication (written and oral) of complex technical ideas and information
  
• Technical mentoring of junior colleagues
  
• Data storage buckets (AWS/google/e.t.c.)
  
• Building and maintaining Python libraries and virtual environments
  
• Developing UI interfaces
  
• Stack: git, bash/zsh/other, Python ML framework (tensorflow/Pytorch/other), MATLAB, C++, Python C API
