Roots in Integration Support

Integration support for our customer and supplier integrations is the heart of what we do. You will evolve our tools and build new things to make our team more efficient as we scale. Success in this role is measured by the ability to ensure 95+% overall success rate for every live integration, ensuring sufficient monitoring to be the first to know when something goes awry. In supporting our most valued customers via integration, we have learned a lot about their internal systems as well as other tech developed for this customer, giving us a unique and holistic perspective about the customer’s technical journey with Flexport.

Branching Out to Serve and Protect our Tech

This unique and highly valuable perspective puts our team front and center to be the first to detect any misalignment across various tech solutions as well as whether the customer is using the tech solution as intended. We are veritable conductors of a larger tech symphony, assisting our functional users (such as Account managers, GO teams, and customs brokers) through the internal tech maze and amplifying the customer’s voice on what is, and what isn’t, working for them in terms of their technical solutions.

You will:

• Carry on Flexport’s reputation as a trusted tech-forward partner for our customers, carriers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Provide phenomenal support and monitoring for integrated solutions for various logistics partners including CSV, XML, EDI X12, EDIFACT, and various rest APIs.
• Assist our partner’s developers and IT teams integrating against Flexport’s public APIs.
• Track key metrics and ensure robust visibility to the performance, health, and success of all integrations, both for the support team as well as our internal stakeholders.
• Evolve our metrics and monitoring to identify sudden drop offs in integration volumes.
• Advocate for our customers and partners within our awesome engineering org.

You should have:

• 2+ years experience developing, building against, or supporting APIs via scripting languages such as python and/or ruby.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with AWS.
• Experience with relational databases.
• Experience with an object oriented programming language such as Java.
• Ability to troubleshoot a variety of transmission protocols (FTP, SFTP, AS2, etc.), as well as payload / file formats (JSON, XML, delimited files, etc.) to diagnose and solve end to end integration issues.
• Lightweight reporting and impact analysis (proficient in SQL such as postgres, mysql, snowflake)
• Practical experience with monitoring tools such as DataDog, New Relic, etc. to build new monitoring, configure alerting, and solve complex issues
• Practical experience with logging tools such as Scalyr, Sumo Logic, LogDNA, Logentries, etc. to solve complex technical issues
• Strong technical writing skills — you can provide precise, concise documentation to both technical and non-technical audiences. You appreciate structure — parent pages, tables of contents, bug templates, etc.
• Recognize and address immature tooling. Eliminate blindspots, and build to evolve the team.
• Strong client-facing communication skills, confident and comfortable presenting technical findings and impact analysis to both technical and nontechnical audiences, as well as the executive audiences.
• Excellence in problem-solving, strategic thinking, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Bonus points if you have prior experience with:

• Logistics and global trade
• IT or devops role, or a role that engaged heavily with IT/devops/infra
• Various EDI standards
• Supporting or working with an iPaaS (Mulesoft, Dell Boomi, etc .)
• Working with or supporting SDKs
• Strong opinions that automations should automate both the happy path as well as the non-happy path
