About the job
Financial Analysts ensure that Google makes sound financial decisions. As a Financial Analyst, your work, whether it's modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, is used by our leaders to make strategic company decisions. Working on multiple projects at a time, you are focused on the details while finding creative ways to take on big picture challenges.
As someone who knows the workings of the core Finance team inside and out, you'll lead individual projects to transform planning, tracking and control processes. You'll provide senior level management with insightful recommendations, planning and reporting support.
Google Public Sector (GPS) Finance is the strategic engine driving Google's mission to accelerate the digital transformation of government and education. We act as a critical partner to the Go-To-Market (GTM) organization, focusing on Google Cloud Platform, AI, Security, and Google Workspace. Our team ensures that every investment—from technical delivery strategy to complex agreement structures—is financially sound, compliant, and optimized for long-term growth.
The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. And nobody at Google loves big numbers like the Finance team when providing in depth analysis on all manner of strategic decisions across Google products. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead financial modeling for complex business streams across the Google Cloud portfolio, ensuring alignment between business targets and long-term margin health.
- Support business and delivery leads by providing data-driven guidance on agreement structuring, pricing exceptions, and strategic trade-offs.
- Monitor and report on the rate at which technical delivery milestones translate into recognized business.
- Identify financial risks associated with deployment delays and partner with the Tech Strategy team to analyze the financial impact of new product offerings.
- Support the core Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) cycle by managing business forecasts, conducting variance analysis, and building automated dashboards (using SQL) to track portfolio performance.
