Minimum qualifications:
- 15 years of experience in legal practice including experience working with India regulators.
- 15 years of experience leading, developing, and managing full-service legal teams including litigation, commercial, and product work.
- 15 years of experience in working with matrixed organizations headquartered in the US.
- Experience managing both internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience operating with an informed and pragmatic perspective, and ability to manage teams.
- Ability to distill complex situations/facts and discuss the big picture.
- Ability to represent Google regionally, coupled with a bias to action working with teams to get things done.
- Strong business acumen and ability to analyze and problem-solve in unprecedented scenarios.
About the job
As the Director, Head of Legal, you will motivate a team of full-service legal professionals across the region to execute Google’s strategic legal agenda, taking into consideration broader geopolitical, marketplace, industry, and public sentiment, as well as long-term goals. You will collaborate with the executive leadership of adjacent functional areas (e.g., public policy, compliance, specialist legal teams such as anti-competition, privacy, etc.).

Responsibilities
- Lead, inspire, develop, and manage a team that is responsible for providing the full range of legal support services (e.g., deals, advisory, regulatory, and contentious matters) at the regional, local, and industry levels.
- Provide advice and counsel on a wide range of legal, business, corporate strategy, and governance issues to key internal stakeholders across a diverse set of products.
- Work with many different key constituencies and functions including public policy, product lawyers, compliance, and others to jointly deliver the outcomes.
- Manage company positioning on key interests and issues, working in partnership with leadership and key stakeholder groups.
