First Mode is seeking to add new members to its electrical engineering team. This position brings an electrical engineering point-of-view and skillset to join the First Mode interdisciplinary engineering teams in addressing complex problems.
The ideal candidate exhibits a passion and dedication to the art of electrical engineering and can apply their skills across EE and other engineering disciplines. Whether it is a strong predilection towards signal processing or antenna design, the candidate can successfully apply their knowledge and skills in this area together with their colleagues to solve challenging problems. Being able to breakdown an electrical problem to first principles and exhaustively investigate the problem is a must. A self-starting attitude and desire to learn everything about the system under design from all disciplines and team members is desired.
Position Responsibilities
- Apply electrical engineering concepts to systems problems and develop solutions
- Represent electrical engineering (as a discipline) as a stakeholder from product / system formulation through design, build and test
- Support your electrical engineering team with your area(s) of expertise
- Participate in system design reviews, hardware design reviews and code reviews
- Work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering or science discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong electrical engineering fundamentals in circuit theory and one or more of the EE disciplines (e.g. signal processing, control systems, power, microelectronics, RF and communications)
- Proficiency with soldering iron, hot air gun and basic rework techniques
- A knack for thinking about how the parts of a system work together
- Ability to write and speak clearly about technical subject matter
- Flexibility and responsiveness in a fast-paced, dynamic, small team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience through a complete product lifecycle (requirements, design, build, test, manufacturing)
- Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout software (Altium Designer preferred)
- Experience in designing for test and manufacturing (DFT/DFM)
- Experience in a strenuous, fast-paced team design project (e.g., Formula SAE, Solar Challenge, ACM, IEEE Design Competitions)
- Proficiency with common electrical engineering design and simulation software (e.g. LTSpice, PSPice)
- Proficiency in electrical engineering design tools relevant to skillset (e.g. SPICE, MATLAB, HFSS, ADS)
Additional Requirements
- Travel within the United States and internationally to represent First Mode to its customers, vendors, and partners
Location
- This position will be located at First Mode’s headquarters in Seattle, WA and will be required to work in office >60% of working hours
TOTAL REWARDS
Base Salary Range: $105,400 - $133,300
