First Mode are seeking a Quality Engineer who works to ensure the products we deliver perform as they need to. You will be involved in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including planning for qualification of new designs, tracking and performing in-process production inspections, and resolving issues and leading process improvements. Demonstrable experience ramping production QA from zero to serial production and an understanding of how product life cycle phases influence the rigour of QA is required. You must be comfortable having contentious conversations and acting as the voice of a customer to guarantee that our teams deliver the products our customers need. As a member of the Quality Assurance team, you will help error-proof the assembly, testing, and deployment of our systems.

Position Responsibilities

• Develop test and inspection plans for in-house designed and produced components
• Perform in-process and audit-based inspections of hardware
• Track and resolve non-conformances to ensure that defective parts are satisfactorily repaired
• Develop and execute qualification campaigns for new product introductions and design iterations
• Lead in-house teams to systematic problem solving for any failure or anomaly
• Drive efficiency improvements at First Mode facilities utilising industry tools like Lean, Statistical Process Control, and Advanced Product Quality Planning
• Manage and track design changes and their impact on existing product and process qualification
• Ensure company processes are adhered to and provide input into process developments and improvements

Basic Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent disciplines

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and data analytics skills
• Experience in Design Engineering, Quality, and/or Manufacturing Engineering
• Experience developing production processes or integrating QMS/ERP systems
• Proven experience launching products in often ambiguous development cycles
• Knowledge of quality standards, certifications, and processes

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to represent First Mode to its vendors, and partners up to 30% until full QA team is in place
• Willingness to adapt and work outside of the core job description to support production activities such as receiving, inventory management, assembly & test, etc.
