The DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SUMMARY
As an Aircraft Electrical Systems / Avionics SkillBridge Intern at Firefly Aerospace, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of aircraft electrical systems and avionics technology. This internship is designed for active-duty service members who are within six months of transitioning out of the military and seeking a rewarding career in an end-to-end space transportation company. This position is located north of Cedar Park, in Briggs, TX. Training is provided. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Electrical Systems Maintenance: Learn to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems in a variety of aerospace platforms, including wiring, connectors, and electrical components.
- Avionics Installation and Repair: Gain experience in the installation, calibration, and repair of avionics systems, such as communication, navigation, and radar equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Understand and follow all safety protocols and regulations related to electrical and avionics work in the aerospace industry.
- Documentation: Learn to create accurate and comprehensive documentation for all maintenance and repair activities, adhering to industry standards.
- Collaboration: Work alongside experienced aerospace professionals to understand the intricacies of aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
- Hands-on Training: Participate in practical, on-the-job training to build your skills and knowledge in aircraft electrical and avionics maintenance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a HS diploma and a minimum of 2 or more years of direct experience demonstrated mechanical aptitude, attention to detail
- Shop organization and cleanliness
- Use of personal protective equipment
- Skilled in aircraft electrical and avionics maintenance with a focus on safety and compliance.
- Proficient in reading technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Adaptability in high-pressure environments.
- Experience in avionics system installation, calibration, and repair.
- Familiarity with avionics test equipment.
- Willingness to learn and stay updated with evolving technologies and industry standards.
- Willingness to continue professional development through training and certifications.
FIREFLY AEROSPACE DOD SKILLBRIDGE CRITERIA
- Must be a current Active Duty Servicemember
- Must be separating from the Military in 4-12 months
- Must be able to complete a minimum of 8 weeks and up to a maximum of 6 months SkillBridge internship
- Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
- Willingness to learn from others on the job
- Will receive an honorable discharge
- Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
- Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
- Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
This is a military transitional program that does not provide compensation through Firefly Aerospace. If selected for full-time employment with Firefly Aerospace upon completion of SkillBridge you will be eligible for: base salary rate commensurate with experience.
