Your role will span the entire project lifecycle and across multiple disciplines ensuring the system meets technical requirements, designing tests to verify the system performance, and conducting system-level analyses to show the system meets the mark for complex missions.
Overview
Systems Engineering plays a crucial role in the design, development, and operation of solar electric propulsion and spacecraft systems. Systems ensure units meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements. This position requires expertise in aerospace engineering principles. The position is crucial to program success from initial proposal through end-of-life operations.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Perform job duties as assigned under the general direction of the Systems Engineering Manager with minimal supervisory direction.
- Develop and deliver Systems Engineering data deliverables to customers.
- Ensure units meet requirements by Pre-Ship Review with evidence in End Item Data Package.
- Deliver requirement and verification compliance matrix with signed verification evidence, approved deviation and approved waivers by final unit delivery.
- Communicate project status, issues, and recommendations to stakeholders through Jira, regular reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in developing deliverables with SharePoint and product lifecycle management system. Produce interface control documents for mechanical (SolidWorks), electrical and embedded firmware.
- Perform performance, reliability and safety analyses. The analyses include radiation.
- Maintain technical resource budgets (mass, power, memory, alignment)
- Use and build custom Python tools.
- Write test plans for functional, performance and environmental testing.
- Engage with Test organization to confirm requirements in test procedure, observe test as assigned, and resolve issues found during unit testing.
- Author operations / user manual.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- Knowledge with Systems Engineering team as demonstrated by managing requirements, developing interfaces, performing analyses and/or managing technical budgets.
- Experience in requirements management, V&V, decomposition and traceability
- Experience with test planning and execution
- Familiarity with ICDs, technical budgeting, and system margins
- Familiarity of SharePoint.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with Python.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States

- Work five-days a week on Monday-Friday with weekend work as needed.
- Work at computer at office desk and in production environments for testing.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline).
- Experience with Electric Propulsion in industry, Hall Effect Thruster preferred.
- Experience with requirement management.
- Experience with Omere radiation analysis tool.
- Experience with reliability and failure modes analyses.
- Experience with designing and analyzing for the space environment.
- Experience with Hall Effect Thruster Design, Analysis & Test.
- Experience testing electric propulsion thrusters, low thrust measurements, and/or plasma diagnostics.
- Experience in Agile frameworks
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills through public media, writing and work product examples.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in space industry or equivalent experience (M.S. Degree considered to be 2 years).
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline).
Export Control / Compliance Requirements
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary range: $125,000–$155,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
