The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for leading the execution of the company’s end‑to‑end supply chain operations in alignment with the strategic direction set by the Head of Supply Chain. This role ensures material availability, cost effectiveness, supplier performance, and inventory optimization to support predictable, scalable production. The Director oversees all operational supply chain functions—including planning, sourcing, procurement execution, logistics, and digital systems governance—and manages the team responsible for daily performance.
Core Responsibilities
Operational Leadership & Execution
- Lead day‑to‑day supply chain execution to achieve performance targets, including OTD, inventory turns, material cost, and supplier performance.
- Oversee and develop the Strategic Sourcing, Procurement Execution, Planning, and Logistics teams.
- Implement and maintain a rate‑based supply chain model aligned with production line requirements.
Supplier & Risk Management
- Drive supplier development activities, capacity planning, long‑lead procurement management, and risk‑mitigation strategies.
- Ensure consistent monitoring of supplier health, performance, and delivery risk.
Planning & Systems Governance
- Oversee ERP/MRP discipline, including planning parameters, data governance, and process adherence.
- Partner with the Digital/IT teams to enhance supply chain visibility and planning tools.
People Leadership
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing supply chain team through organizational design, hiring, coaching, and capability development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
Authority
- Execute supply chain strategy as defined by the Sr. Director/VP; recommend improvements and operational enhancements.
- Approve sourcing recommendations, supplier award proposals, and procurement execution decisions within established limits.
- Set and manage operational inventory strategies, safety stock levels, and material buffers to support rate readiness.
- Escalate significant supplier, capacity, or continuity-of-supply risks to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience across multiple supply chain functions (e.g., planning, sourcing, procurement, logistics, supplier development).
- Strong operational execution mindset with the ability to translate strategy into action.
- Demonstrated success implementing or sustaining rate‑based or flow‑based supply chain models.
- Deep understanding of ERP/MRP systems, planning parameters, inventory management, and data governance.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to use data to drive decisions and prioritize effectively.
- Experience developing supplier capacity, managing long‑lead materials, and mitigating supply risk.
- Ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams; strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, rapidly scaling environment.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Business, or a related field
- Master’s degree (MBA or MS in Supply Chain/Operations) preferred but not required.
- Professional certifications (e.g., APICS/CPIM, CSCP, ISM CPSM) are a plus.
Years of Experience
- 10+ years of progressive supply chain experience, with significant ownership of planning, sourcing, procurement, and/or logistics operations.
- 5+ years of people leadership experience, including responsibility for managers and cross-functional teams.
- Experience supporting manufacturing environments (rate-based, build-to-order, or similar) strongly preferred.
Experience in scaling supply chain operations within high-growth or transformational environmet
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
Pay: $165,000.00 - $185,000.00 per year
