Job Overview
Senior Parts, Materials, and Processes (PMP) Engineer plays a crucial role in the design, development, and production of solar electric propulsion. ExoTerra is seeking a highly skilled Parts, Materials, and Process Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving parts, materials, and processes used in our manufacturing operations. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform job duties as assigned under the general direction of the Systems Engineering Manager with minimal supervisory direction.
- Develop and deliver data deliverables to customers.
- Create a PMP database with approved materials for flight and Ground Support Equipment, including outgassing data, material properties used for analysis, preferred materials.
- Maintain material safety datasheets (MSDS).
- Lead company processes: welding, bonding, cleanrooms, ESD, soldering, etc.
- Monitor material performance and evaluate material deterioration.
- Review drawings, travelers and non-conformances.
- Customer deliverables Declared Materials, Parts and Processes.
- Review and train receiving and inspection personnel on material certifications, process certifications and other items in supplier data packages.
- Support End Item Data Packages. Ensure PMP requirements met by Pre-Ship Review with evidence in End Item Data Package.
- Oversight of supplier’s process for welding, brazing, coil winding, and coatings.
- Participate in gap analysis and provide innovative design solutions to meet aggressive timing, cost, and reliability targets.
- Recommend acceptable Alternate and Substitute materials, upon request.
- Communicate project status, issues, and recommendations to stakeholders through Jira, regular reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in developing deliverables with SharePoint and product lifecycle management system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline).
- Minimum 4 years of experience in space industry or equivalent experience (M.S. Degree considered to be 2 years).
- 2 years of experience with parts, materials and processes in aerospace and defense industry.
- Knowledge of Solar Electric Propulsion.
- Familiarity of Jira and Confluence.
- Familiarity of SharePoint.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
· Location: Littleton, CO
· Language: English
· Work five-days a week on Monday-Friday with weekend work as needed.
· Work at computer at office desk and in production environments for testing.
· Must be eligible to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline).
- Certified instructor in welding, bonding, ESD and / or soldering processes.
- Experience with Electric Propulsion in industry, Hall Effect Thruster preferred.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills through public media, writing and work product examples.
Experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in space industry or equivalent experience (M.S. Degree considered to be 2 years).
- 2 years of experience with parts, materials and processes in aerospace and defense industry.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline).
