About the Role

We’re looking for a Director of Engineering, Security to lead our Security Engineering and Security Enablement teams. Our Security Engineering team comprises software engineers building and operating the foundational security infrastructure and controls underlying all our products and services. Our Security Enablement team comprises security engineers who are experts in our business, acting as trusted security partners to our engineering, product, and design teams to solve security problems across business verticals.

We are looking for an exceptional technical software engineering and security leader to evolve our systems and infrastructure such that security is always on by default and provided as a service in our production environments, abstracting security away from our DoorDash engineers, so that they can single mindedly focus on growing our business and delighting our customers.

This role will be based in the San Francisco Bay Area or Seattle, and report to our Chief Information Security Officer and be part of the security leadership team at DoorDash.

  • Bring software engineering expertise in building and operating high scale systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, efficiency and ease of use.
  • Build, sustain, and grow a combined software engineering and security engineering organization to address the growing needs of DoorDash.

We’re excited about you because…

You have an advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, or a related discipline.You have 15+ years experience in an engineering management role spanning software engineering and security engineering.

  • You have expertise in cloud infrastructure engineering, developer experience, platform engineering, and information security.
  • You maintain a high bar for engineering operational excellence, and have built and operated mission-critical, reliable, scalable, and highly available engineering systems
  • You have a track record of growing Software Engineers, Engineering Managers, Security Engineers, and Security Managers from entry-level to senior principal engineer and senior manager levels
  • You are an exceptional partner to engineering teams, and leverage your deep cross-functional technical expertise to earn trust and forge durable partnerships in a fast moving environment.

Compensation

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.
