Job Duties and Responsibilities

The AI Security Technologist is responsible for designing, securing, and operationalizing Generative AI platforms for EchoStar’s Security organization. This role develops AI systems that enhance security operations, enable automated decision support, strengthen risk management, and ensure the enterprise maintains a secure and governed approach to AI adoption.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and operationalize secure LLM-driven platforms for security analytics, automation, orchestration, threat detection, TPRM, and GRC use cases
Implement secure data ingestion and AI pipelines across structured and unstructured security data (IOCs, TTPs, logs, configs, vulnerabilities, policies) with standards for RAG, embeddings, vector storage, and context retrieval
Develop agentic and AI-enabled automation workflows that augment SOC analysts, threat hunters, architects, and GRC teams, integrated directly into security tooling
Build continuous monitoring models for control effectiveness, risk scoring, detection correlation, prioritization, model drift, hallucinations, safety failures, and abuse or adversarial influence
Define and maintain enterprise architecture and governance for protecting AI systems, including prompt security, guardrails, RBAC/ABAC, secure hosting and isolation, lifecycle governance, compliance, and incident response playbooks
Lead AI threat intelligence, adversarial testing, and resilience efforts—monitoring malicious AI activity, attacker-driven prompts and malware, evolving AI-augmented TTPs, and partnering cross-functionally to enable secure AI adoption and education across the organization
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, related discipline, or commensurate industry experience
- 3+ years in Security Engineering, Security Architecture, Threat Research, or Detection Engineering
- 3+ years in GENAI development, modeling, integration and security
Skills and Qualifications:
Hands-on experience building, integrating, or operating LLM platforms and providers (e.g., AWS Bedrock, Anthropic, Gemini, OpenAI)
Deep understanding of embeddings, vector databases, RAG architectures, tokenization, and contextual retrieval patterns
Strong working knowledge of AI security and risk frameworks, including NIST AI RMF, OWASP LLM Top 10, and MITRE ATLAS
Proficiency in Python (or equivalent) for developing AI/ML pipelines, automation, and security tooling
Experience securing cloud-native systems and automated data/ML pipelines, with exposure to secure AI or ML architecture design
Familiarity with AI governance, drift and safety monitoring, guardrails, and regulated or telecom/satellite security environments preferred

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $127,050.00/Year - $181,500.00/Year
