Job Duties and Responsibilities
Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person interview, which may include a live whiteboarding or technical assessment session. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior CALEA Engineer to join our growing regulatory engineering and operations team. This role is responsible for the daily operations, testing, and troubleshooting of its Lawful Access platform across our Open RAN 5G standalone (SA) network infrastructure.
This role requires a deep understanding of wireless telecommunications networks, 5G core engineering, cloud network architecture, lawful intercept interfaces, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate must possess prior experience with the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) within the wireless telecommunications industry, and be able to design, implement and maintain our CALEA platform in compliance with applicable U.S. laws and FCC regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy and maintain CALEA-compliant lawful intercept solution across 5G network functions that support real-time lawful intercept activities
- Configure, test and troubleshoot network using mediation devices or lawful intercept collection software
- Develop and maintain documentation related to CALEA compliance, system architecture, call-flows and operational procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Technology Development, Legal and Information Security to ensure operational readiness and regulatory compliance
- Oversee change management to minimize network impacts to CALEA services, including MOP and test case reviews
- Manage vendor relationships and performance
- Interface with law enforcement agencies and third-party vendors to validate LI solutions and troubleshoot issues
- Stay up-to-date with CALEA regulations, 3GPP/ATIS standards, industry best practices, and emerging technologies in lawful intercept
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to other engineers and cross-functional teams
- Ensure the security and integrity of CALEA-related data and systems
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field. Relevant job experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
- 5+ years of experience in telecom engineering, with at least 3 years focused on 4G/5G lawful intercept or CALEA implementation
- In-depth understanding of 5G Core (5GC) architecture and interfaces, including 3GPP and ETSI standards
- Hands-on experience with network function virtualization (NFV) in a cloud environment, preferably AWS
- Experience with Kubernetes in the AWS environment
- Experience with lawful intercept mediation platforms and LI provisioning
- Experience working with law enforcement agencies and compliance audits
- Experience with incident management and Root Cause Analysis
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent problem-solving, communication and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of legal and regulatory frameworks related to electronic surveillance
- Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python and Bash) for log parsing, system monitoring or testing
- Must have or be eligible to obtain Secret-level security clearance.

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $96,250.00/Year - $137,500.00/Year
