About the Role

We're hiring an Sr Director of Engineering to lead and scale our software engineering organization at a pivotal moment in Digantara's growth. This is a senior leadership role with broad ownership across application development, platform engineering, and cybersecurity and a mandate to build an engineering org that can deliver at pace without sacrificing quality or reliability.

This role reports to the founders and will be central to how we scale our engineering capacity, strengthen our execution engine, and bring AI-driven productivity into everyday engineering workflows.

What You'll Do

Organizational Leadership

  • Own engineering leadership across software development, platform engineering, and cybersecurity setting direction, standards, and team structures

  • Design and build engineering org structures aligned to Digantara's product roadmap and business goals

  • Hire, mentor, and develop senior engineering leaders; build a strong leadership bench for the next phase of growth

Execution & Delivery

  • Drive execution excellence across multiple concurrent software programs improving throughput, predictability, and delivery bandwidth

  • Establish engineering processes and rhythms that balance speed with rigor, especially given the high-stakes, mission-critical nature of our systems

  • Own engineering KPIs: quality, velocity, reliability, and team health

Strategic & Cross-functional

  • Partner with product, science, and hardware teams to align engineering capacity with company priorities

  • Lead the adoption of AI-powered developer tools and workflows to improve engineering leverage

  • Represent engineering in leadership conversations on org design, hiring strategy, and capability gaps

What We're Looking For

Must-haves

  • 12+ years in software engineering with at least 4 - 5 years in multi-team engineering leadership roles

  • Proven track record of scaling engineering organizations - structuring teams, improving delivery, and growing leaders

  • Experience leading across multiple technical domains: software development, platform/infrastructure, and security

  • Strong organizational design instincts - you've built teams for scale, not just headcount

  • Hands-on familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools and a demonstrated ability to drive adoption across teams

  • Excellent stakeholder communication - you can translate engineering complexity for business audiences and vice versa

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in deep-tech, defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical software environments

  • Exposure to space systems, real-time data platforms, or hardware-software integration

  • Familiarity with government and defense customer environments
