Director, Satellite On-Board Computer(OBC)

Digantara is seeking a highly skilled Director, Satellite On-Board Computer (OBC) to join our dynamic team to conceptualize, architect and lead the development of OBC. The candidate will be responsible for leading a team of embedded hardware and embedded software engineers to design, develop and realize state of art OBC for cubesat/microsat bus.

Ideal Candidate:

Someone with expertise in design, development of OBC for Cubesat/Microsat satellites designed to operate in Low Earth Orbit (LEO), with strong focus on miniaturisation and fault-tolerance.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the Cubesat/Microsat OBC and optimize its configuration to meet the satellite bus and payload requirements.

  • Generate the hardware, flight software requirements in collaboration with subsystem and payload design engineers/customers.

  • Lead the team of analog, RTL design and firmware engineers to develop an OBC capable of telemetry, telecommand handling, AOCS interface and payload data management.

  • Develop the robust flight software architecture, FDIR requirements and software verification and validation strategy.

  • Review the schematics, software , simulation results and test procedure for subsystem level and satellite level interface tests.

  • Guide the development of test systems for OBC, evolve comprehensive test philosophy and resolve observations during integration and test phases.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech/B.E in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or M.Tech/M.E or PhD degree in VLSI /Electronics design/Microelectronics.

  • 8+ years of demonstrated experience in design, development of OBC for LEO satellites.

  • Expertise in implementing fault-tolerant embedded systems with knowledge of CCSDS standards for telemetry, telecommand and payload data handling.

  • Strong proficiency in bare-metal and RTOS programming for embedded systems, with expertise in real-time scheduling and interrupt handling

  • Experience in Embedded C/C++, software configuration management and defect tracking tools

  • Strong understanding in data communication protocols such as I2C, UART, SPI, Space wire, and interfaces LVDS, RS422/485, etc

  • Knowledge in understanding and implementation of EMI/EMC control with best design practices.

Preferred Skills

  • Exposure to VHDL/Verilog and high-level synthesis.

  • Working knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and PCB design tools.

  • Knowledge of the latest trends in miniaturization of avionics for cubesat/microsat.

  • Good understanding of satellite subsystems and systems-first development approach.

  • Familiarity with satellite electrical ground support equipment for OBC testing.
